What if.........
Ok so we all know that the o-line is the biggest weakness of the team and should be adressed early and often in the draft. Thats all fine and dandy but what are we going to do about d-line and middle linebacker? Thinking this over for some time now i think i have found the best plan (at least that i can think of) for the Chiefs off-season. Obviously we HAVE to resign Bowe AND Carr first and foremost................
1. Free Agency- So the draft will be dedicated to the o-line early so free agency will go to d-line/MLB
A. Sign Paul Soliai from Miami- He is a monster tackle that will plug the middle for Romeos rising D
B. Find competition for Belcher/Siler at MLB- we have forgotten about Siler who could have been the starter
2. Draft- So with our defense looking dominant we turn to offense
1st pick- David DeCastro G, Stanford- immediate starter for years
2nd pick- Cordy Glenn/Zebrie Sanders OT- Glenn may be gone but both could start at RT
3rd-7th would be BPA with needing depth at TE, RB, DE projects
So our new offense would be
QB- Manning (haha yeah right), Cassel, Stanzi
HB- Charles, draft/FA
FB- LeRon McClain
WR1- Bowe
WR2- Baldwin
Slot- Breaston/McCluster
LT-Albert
LG- Asamoah
C- Hudson
RG- DeCastro
RT- Sanders/Glenn
And the defense...........
NT-Soliaia, Powe
DE- Dorsey, Jackson, Bailey
OLB- Hali, Houston, Scheffield
MLB- Johnson, Belcher/Siler/FA
CB- Flowers, Carr, Arenas
S- Berry, Lewis

Rather take
Lamar Miller in 2nd round, and look for a RT in the third round.
yes to
DeCastro, Soliai, Sanders.
Green-Ellis instead of wasting a pick in the draft.
Re-sign Orton. He’s better than Cassel.
"At one point in your life you either have the thing you want or the reasons why you don't "
Trade Dorsey to a 4-3 for a draft pick
that can be used on OL depth, S depth, or TE depth or an RB behind Charles.
I like Amon Gordon or Bailey opposite of T-Jax. Bailey probably because he is younger and eats raccoons.
Lamar Miller
is to small of a back to be a thunder to Charles’ lightning, Green-Ellis would be a great signing if NE lets him walk. Orton wont come back, not cause we dont want him but he said it himself that this is Cassels team (unfortunately) so he will go somewhere he will have a guaranteed starting job……
Lamar's still relatively physical, though.
And 212 pounds isn’t that small. We wouldn’t have to worry about predictable playcalling with him in because him and Jamaal have similar running styles.

Short yardage
would still be a problem if we dont have a bigger back unless you give it to McClain in the HB position
Yeah short yardage would be improved with DeCastro and Hudson
The reason why most of us WANT DeCastro.
Forget about ‘’thunder and lightning’’ look for ‘’lightning and lightning’’, offenses are too predictable with a slower power back and a fast shifty back.

I think Pead
would be a better choice overall. He could be had in the 3rd-early 4th round and is a tough runner and has similar size to Miller and you would still get a good RT. I think 3rd is to late to wait to get a good OT. Running backs are a dime a dozen and have less shelf life.
Pierce>Pead

It's not a predictable offense if they are both in the backfield at the same time and the defense doesn't know who gets the ball.
e.g. Le’Ron being used as a runner a LOT more. Even having Jackie bulk up a little and play some fullback in short-yardage would be good with me.
Still, O-line is the biggest, most important deal on short-yardage. It doesn’t matter if Peyton Hillis in the backfield if we have the LIGHTEST STINKIN’ LINE IN THE LEAGUE! IT’S PISSING ME OFF!!!!!

To be honest
Patriots have had a lot of those RBs who simply thrive because they are in the Patriots system with Brady at the helm. I dont think we should buy because of his lack of explosiveness and speed.
Hes had 3.7, 4.4, 4.4, 3.7 yards per carry in his four seasons in the NFL. He had 510 carries and his longest rush in each season was 15, 29, 33, and 18. I think Chiefs are much better off going with Miller and his high yard per carry and his knack to make the defense look like a high school D.
I think the biggest weakness of the team is quarterback.
I agree we need to improve RT though.
I AGREE
but i was thinking about what Pioli/Hunt will actually do and i think had Cassel finished out the year terrible they would look elsewhere but since he got injured it bought him another year to “prove himself”
This
I would hope we are aggressive about getting Orton back. The offensive players seemed a lot more confident in him.
Formerly Hail2DaChiefs.........somebody hi-jacked my email, but they can't take my love for the Chiefs!

So confident that
against three of the worst defenses in the NFL we averaged 13 points per game, awesome I am sold on Orton!
