Letting Haley go was the right move
He started having this “i don’t care” vibe about him and it seemed like he cared more about letting his friends playing football (Palko, Urban, and Becht) than doing what’s best for the team.
Men succeed when they realize that their failures are the preparation for their victories.

I agree
Its hard to know what the real reason is that caused that attitude. There was obvious problems, whos to blame is something we may never know. I think Haley has the drive to be a good coach, just needs to change his approach and stop looking like the town drunk.
I think with the team we have currently, Crennel fits better at HC, so it was the right move for us.

I think it was simply...
That Haley saw the “writing on the wall”, so to speak. And knew he wouldn’t be back next season one way or the other. Thus, the don’t-give-a-shit attitude.
Not that this excuses that attitude…but, I truly think that’s what happened.
It’s done. Over. I wish him no ill will…but I’m glad he’s gone. It’s best for him, and best for us.
My earliest Chiefs memories are watching guys named Dawson, Podolak, Taylor, Thomas, Bell, and Buchanan. So, yeah...I'm kind of an old fart.
I'm glad
I think he is the reason why no oc wanted to stay in kc. Weis was doing great with cassel, but good old Haley did not like it because he wanted to have the power to call the plays that’s why last season we were using timeouts is the early 1 and 3 quarter because the play was called and if he did not like it he would argue with muir about it all those delay of games not giving Matt time to read the defense or call an audible, going up to the line with 9 seconds on the play clock. Romeo come in and let muir do his job even though we still was not effective in the red zone kinda hard when ol was not the best, and had some
players on ir. Now dabol is in u will not see Romeo interfearing with the play calls thus making offense more effective allowing our qb a chance when on the line actually feel sorry for cassel that he has had 5 ocs in 4 years at least dabol has worked with cassel when in new england same for weis when he was in new England with cassel he knew what his strengths where and his weaknesses where hopefully the same with dabol.

Haley's a fraud
He can develop WR’s yet he can’t run an offense. For his success in Arizona you need not look further than Kurt Warner & Wisenhunt. Our best offense when he was here was when Weis was calling the shots. Before & after our offense stunk.

For most people it comes down to Palko
I get that most of it is the Palko thing, and it was fustrating to watch him start, but Orton was hurt and Stanzi had only had a few weeks working with the 2nd team, as has been pointed out before the 3rd team barely gets any snaps in practice. It comes down to a matter of timing how many weeks of 2nd teams snaps before Stanzi is ready to start, is Orton healthy enough. This being the Chiefs I doubt we’ll ever find out the facts of what was really going on. I mean it’s completely possible that if Haley had continued as HC he would have started Orton in week 15 all on his own.
And I hate to say it but Palko wan’t nearly as bad in his last 2 games as he was in his first 2.
Dude, Palko sucks
Once Haley seen that, he should of gave Stanzi at least a shot. It couldnt of hurt.
A) He might actually look good and may have something to build on
B) He might of been worse then Palko and then we would of all understood his theory.
Even an Orton with only a handful of plays and no practice with receivers is better then a Palko with a full playbook. He always talked about doing what gave us the best chance to win. Well, playing Palko was the opposite. Crennel came in and instantly put Palko as far down the depth charts as he could. That outta say something.
I agree with giving Palko the shot first over Stanzi, but he stayed as starter too long IMO.

Uhmmm...
One of the reasons that Stanzi did not even get a shot at starting was due to the fact that he was injured. If you weren’t such a reactionary fan you would have known that. So your A and B arguments are based on speculation of healthy Stanzi. The reality is that he was not healthy, and an ankle injury is a big deal for a QB, especially one with no experience, and no real practice time.
Your next argument that Orton would be an upgrade with no practice time, and maybe five or six plays is absurd at best. Would you be saying the same thing about Cassell if the roles were reversed? I want to see you try and make the claim that Cassell with little to no practice with a new team and just a handful of plays is a clear upgrade.
Forgot to add
Your argument about Crennel moving Palko back to the third team is more than likely a typical Crennel move. He tends to react to the fan base attitude in ways to try and please them rather than in ways that actually give the team the best shot at winning. Look at his history in Cleveland. He tended to base some of his decisions on the crowd attitude of the week.

Nice call Zif
How ya doin? This team is headed in a very unpredictable direction right now and if certain circuits blow, next year could look like a train wreck.

Alive and kicking
My main concern with the firing of Haley was that Oakland would hire him as HC. Could you imagine how much it would suck for us if Oakland all of a sudden became a disciplined team. Our wins against them over the last few years were mainly due to discipline.
I am now glad he is with the Steelers as OC. That will at least keep him out of the AFC West for a few years.
Agreed
It would have been a bummer to see Haley on that other sideline twice a year. I may be totally wrong here, but I have a feeling that Haley to the Steelers has bigger implications that Haley to the Steelers. Just have to wait and see.

When was Stanzi injured?
He was a healthy scratch for weeks until Crennel stepped in and promoted him to 2nd string ahead of Palko.

there was speculation at one point
Palkos arm was injured and he playex
by TheScreenName on Feb 13, 2012 6:34 PM CST via mobile up reply actions
Actually...
Stanzi was a healthy scratch a few times prior to Cassel being injured. Palko started the next week, with Stanzi listed as 2nd. The next week leading up to the Steelers game it was reported that Stanzi injured his ankle in practice, and Orton had yet to officially join the team, so Palko is once again the starter with an injured Stanzi as the back up. The very next week Orton was injured on his very first snap as a Chief, Moving a still injured Stanzi back into the number 2 spot again.
It really doesnt matter
The main thing is that we beat their asses at their place this coming season. should of beat them when they was here.
If only this could keep the inevitable "I told you so" posts from happening
Whether he succeeds or fails, you KNOW they’re coming.
I love my wife, my kids, and the Chiefs. In that order. Except on game days.

nice story! sadly there actually ARE some people who don't mind letting either Carr or Bowe walk in Free Agency (I'm not one of them, btw)
oh, and BJ … never EVER begin a sentence with the word “but” … don’t they give you a stylebook over there?

hi, Mo! 5 minutes!!!
i wouldnt say people "dont mind"
Letting Carr or Bowe leave. Its more the fact that we dont feel we should re-sign them if the money isnt reasonable.

well, pass the collection plate ... I mean, Clark only has a limited about of cap space
like $50-60 Million and that’s gonna go fast, right?

hi, Mo! 5 minutes!!!
so thats means we should waste it?
Yes we need to stop sitting on money.Yes ,we need to re-sign Bowe and Carr. Yes we need to go after other FA . But all at the right price. Carr isnt the top CB in the league so if he is asking for top dog money, kinda hard to keep. Same goes for QB position. Orton isnt as goid as brees so why would we pay him brees money? Why not just buy the real thing.?

Completely disagree, just because it was your "opinion" that Pioli should or should not have let Haley go, doesn't mean
you can’t have been wrong…
Also, can you not post comments to kansascity sbnation without logging into facebook?
correct
you cannot post comments to SB Nation Kansas City unless you first log onto Facebook
disgusting, isn’t it

Third party integration is the mark of a bad website imo
Facebook is the worst, just by it’s nature as THE social medium, but there’s a bunch out there now. Just look at arrowhead addict, crap like livefyre, chat accounts, fansided accounts, etc make you have to sign in to like 3 or 4 accounts just to fully use the site in some cases.
I think Haley is going to go on to be a great coach.
He wouldn’t be the first coach to have issues with their 1st stint as a HC. I wish him the best.

Something tells me this won't be the final word.
Nicknames I have coined:
Jamaal Charles = 'Haley's Comet'
Shaun Smith = 'Big Nasty'
Kelly Gregg = 'Old Gregg'
I wish Haley well (except when his team plays against the Chiefs).
