Janzen Jackson
Cons: Character concerns (left the team due to personal reasons…was reinstated the dismissed from the teams for what were reportedly substance abuse problems)…Isn’t the greatest open field tackler, goes for the big hit too often…a little wiry in his build
Round projection: 6th to UDFA

Jackson is athletic, quick and not afraid to punish on the field, but was plagued by some off-the-field issues. In one of the most high-profile arrests of the college football season, Jackson was arrested in an armed robbery with his teammates Nu’Keese Richardson and Mike Edwards. Richardson and Edwards were dismissed from the team, and Jackson was given a three-game suspension.
The suspension, however, could turn out to be a blessing in disguise for Jackson. Immediately following Jackson’s arrest, Berry moved him into his off-campus home to help mentor him and set him straight. Whether Berry’s leadership and insight rubbed off on Jackson remains to be seen.

Interesting to me only, Maybe
Janzen Jackson, the player with perhaps the most raw talent in the secondary, will be the primary candidate to replace Berry. A five-star recruit out of Louisiana, Jackson was converted from cornerback to safety in his freshman year at Tennessee and cracked the starting lineup by his second game. By midseason, he was Berry’s regular partner at safety.
Way to be on top of it Steve !
Very in-ter-res-ting. Could be had as a UDFA? Very, Very interesting!
KC CHIEFS, $1,000,000,000+ and growing !
Agreed.
This could be one of those super value picks, but only if Berry says he’s on the up and up.
2012 Goal: Be invited to Lady Buttercup's spring ball.
2012 Resolution: To establish a better cravat collection than anyone else on AP.
2012 Wish: Chiefs Super Bowl
some recent news
The highly touted defensive back stood out as a true freshman, starting nine games at free safety alongside All-American and All-SEC strong safety Eric Berry. Jackson had 37 tackles and one interception.
Berry, who ended up being the fifth overall pick in the 2010 draft, told me in the days leading to his selection by the Kansas City Chiefs that Jackson was “the most talented cover man he had seen in the SEC.”
In 2010, Jackson was a second team All-SEC performer recording 69 tackles, four tackles for losses, five interceptions, 11 pass knockdowns and a sack.
NFP Scouting report
FS Janzen Jackson: McNeese State (6-0, 190)
A former five-star recruit who enrolled at Tennessee in 2009 and played immediately in the secondary. Is a good athlete with a "plus" first step, gets up to speed quickly and looks like a 4.4 guy in the deep half. Possesses a solid feel when asked to decipher routes in front of him. Takes good angles toward the throw, can undercut routes and exhibits "plus" ball skills. Showcases a good closing burst and settles his feet well when asked to track vertically and adjust to the throw.
Fourth round grade on CBS right now. I'm guessing he'll be a riser after the combine.
When you gotta go in the lion's den, you don't go quiet. You go in loud, kick the door down and say WHERE IS THE SONUVABITCH. -B. Billick
The record will have some affect on his selection
With Eric Berry here though….and the fact he survived a year at TN after Berry left. Should help

worth taking a flyer on
Berry seems to have the character to know when a guy just needs guidance and not just another Vanover scumbag.
My favorite later round DB prospect
Absolutely killed his stock, but plays the ball well

Prior to Pioli selecting Houston, Baldwin, and Powe
all with varying issues. I would never have thought Scott would think twice about this guy.
True
Although Houston is the only one with the drug incident that he went after, guess if the value is right then it helps take the gamble
