Nation Wide Mock Draft
Hello Chiefs Fans,
I had an idea for a mock draft in which your sports nation site acts as your team. Over the next few months I plan to visit each team's site and allow for each reader to help pick your team's draft pick. Please answer the poll to select your team's draft pick.
Just to give you a little more on this idea and myself, I am a writer for bleacherbumsports.net and will continue to organize all of the draft information I receive through my site. The poll will be up for 3 days after which the player with the most votes is your teams draft pick. I will then move on to the next site and have them pick from which players are left. This will only be a first round draft and can not involve trades so please pick where your team currently is. I cannot verify in the proper amount of time if the other team would accept your trade.
I would really appreciate everyones help with this. Thanks in advance! - Sam
*Note* I flipped a coin and the Seahawks won the 11th overall pick.
Current Draft Results:
1. Colts - QB Andrew Luck
2. Rams - WR Justin Blackmon
3. Vikings - OT Matt Kalil
4. Browns - QB Robert Griffin III
5. Buccaneers - CB Morris Claiborne
6. Redskins - OT Riley Reiff
7. Jaguars - DE Quinton Coples
8. Dolphins - DE Melvin Ingram
9. Panthers - CB Dre Kirkpatrick
10. Bills - LB Courtney Upshaw
11. Seahawks - RB Trent Richardson
The Poll will be open until Feb 15 at 1pm

odds are if RGIII goes past st. louis at 2 via trade out chiefs will move up or someone else will.
love this post cause its cool but there without a doubt will be some form of trade.
Yeah, its just to crazy to do trades in this scenario
Once someone purposed a trade, everyone on this site here would have to vote on it (the proposal) then after a couple day it would get voted on the other team and if they send back a counter offer… the whole thing just gets out of control after awhile so thats why i had to limit it.
Its also just fun for a mock draft to be done be each team respectively, instead of just doing it myself and trying to understand each teams needs, i leave it up to the people that know most about their own team. (all of you)
hey you never answered why kc lost the coin flip and picked 12 and not 11?
alot of people probably would have took richardson but you have him going at 11?
this is an issue.
Chiefs lose coin flips?
what I want to know is do we have to alternate later round picks or not?

well see i had the chiefs as heads and tails as seahawks
and it landed as tails, so thats why they lost
I always pick tails, for the record. Truth I ALWAYS PICK TAILS.
I understand though its cool for the mock scenario but, in real life chiefs will be picking #11 I can feel it.
the correct answer is "DeCastro"
“Martin” would be acceptable as well

I'll take it!
…………………I will say though, that if Charles, Berry and Moeaki weren’t hurt, they would have been a playoff team anyway. So with them coming back and a solid draft and FA signing, they should be there next year. IMO it will be a huge dissapointment if they weren’t.

Michael Brockers - DT
Why not?

impact wise
does the 3-4 DE position require a 1st round pick, the past not-withstanding?
by Steve_Chiefs on Feb 12, 2012 6:32 PM CST up reply actions
IF it was a position of need
Brockers would be a good choice
by stagdsp on Feb 12, 2012 7:48 PM CST via mobile up reply actions
as a 3-4 DE
Either would be good, IF the Chiefs didn’t have Dorsey anymore
by stagdsp on Feb 12, 2012 9:05 PM CST via mobile up reply actions
We might not have any after this upcoming season
Dorsey UFA
and
Jackson 14 M

Also Brockers looks like he could have a hell of an impact
Will he reach his potential? Eh who knows.. but a ’’prototype’’ 5 tech with good pass rushing potential.. find a place for him

All depends on FA
Nicks/Grubbs could kill the need/want for DeCastro, I’m not overly impressed with Martin/Reiff so just went with BPA pretty much

Eh I don't have Tannehill anywhere close to the top 10
Martin could be a possibility.. but a 2nd tier OT isn’t really something to jump up for
Brockers.. who knows where he is rated by some, a young DT without much experience

Brockers is a big climber in the rankings
I think he’s one NE would trade up for, maybe

NE would likely go after a DE before DT though
Of course, there is not a lot of talent for pure pass rushers in this draft and NE does play a hybrid 3-4/4-3

I chose Other and my personal selection would be Cordy Glenn (OL Georgia)
He’s a big man who’s got a lot of athleticism. Not considered to be a great pass blocker but his forte is run blocking. He’s got a lot of collegiate experience and he’s played several different spots on the line. Good choice for right tackle but he would be a good fit as a guard.

not a good RT candidate for KC
He’s a Guard.

Bobby Massie?
is he a good RT candidate
by Steve_Chiefs on Feb 12, 2012 8:04 PM CST up reply actions
I am not as familiar w him
But, I am on board w a RT in the first 2 rounds that is a clear upgrade and a pure athletic Tackle
by stagdsp on Feb 12, 2012 9:07 PM CST via mobile up reply actions
I know I should use the mock thread but using this anyways.
I like this scenario, doesnt solve all our problems or any for that matter but here goes.
FA- G ben grubbs
round 1- trade out, pick up early 20’s first and early 20s second round picks
round 1- via trade, TE Allen, clemson, 6’4" 255, basically a stud blocking and catching.
I know I know we got tony and this is not a need but it is what it is.
round 2- CB Minnifield, virginia, 6’ 190, nobody throws at him, this guy is nice. and let carr walk you just upgraded in talent at CB and it didnt tie up 20+ million at two cornerback positions when you only got 120 million to spend soon.
round 2- via trade, who ever you feel like adding in, have fun.
round 3- OT Massie, ole miss, 6’6" 315, should be a solid RT.
round 4- NT akiem hicks, regina U., cough canada, 6’4" 325 he was nice at the shrine game, was at LSU went to canada dude has some issues not going to lie but put him behind Powe see what happens. he has the tools.
round 5-7- have fun filling it in.
our O-Line, LT albert, LG grubbs, C Hudson, RG asamoah, RT massie. thats nice.
upgraded CB with talent we can build on with minnifield in my opinion, got a stud TE to double with injury prone tony and a matchup nightmare, while still having a ton of money to lock up bowe or do basically whatever you want and a early 20’s 2nd round pick not used yet, nor rounds 5-7 used yet for whatever. fill in the rest, say this sucks, atleast I didnt use a fan post up doing this lol.
Minnifield!
Although I wouldn’t let Carr walk. I would try Minnifield out as a FS in the base, in the slot or outwide with Flowers covering the short/quick guys in the slot in subs

With your trade scenario, I would rather get OL Adams with late first rd pick.
Then come back with TE Allen, Fleener,or Charles in the second and then ILB Burfict. If Burfict is gone go with Minnifield. Third rd. go with FS Lloka or Martin. or C Ben Jones.

I dont see allen lasting that long though?
if you read on bobbie massie you dont really hear bad things about the guy, you hear how he is just dominate at times though. I really like that what I hear about him. with adams you hear alot of negatives im not sure I like that to much if im using a first round pick on someone I dont want a ton of negatives.
I'm still waiting for a scouting report from NFP on Bobby Massie
also Janzen Jackson the Safety that played with Berry at Tennessee for awhile lokks interesting again no Scouting report from NFP
I did find this on Massie
Bobbie Massie, Mississippi, 6-6, 315, 5.15, JR
… Plays RT for Ole Miss but has the size and athleticism to figure as a LT at the next level; actually originally signed with Virginia Tech and was heavily recruited by Alabama but opted to go to Ole Miss where he started from day one; has excellent size with long arms and quick feet; gets decent knee bend with good balance, but needs to concentrate on keeping pads low; can also change direction and can cut off the edge, solid drive blocker who finishes off block.

Also interesting - some worrisome things for the supposed overall #2 pick
Matt Kalil, Southern California, 6-6, 295, 5.05, JR … Former superstar recruit kept Tyron Smith, the 9th player selected at the 2011 draft, at RT last fall; has all the tools including long arms and the athletic feet of an elite NFL LT; not huge at under 300 pounds but is physical run defender with a real burst of the line of scrimmage and the strength to maul opponents; can als get to the second level and make a block in space; needs to bring it on every play, though, as he has been inconsistent in the past and will lose focus on occasion has good football bloodlines as father player professionally, while brother Ryan is currently a starter with Carolina.

oh u had the redskins taking him. how bout another DT! michael brockers.
We need someone to take Dorseys spot once he’s traded
just because he picked berry over bulaga doesnt mean that me doesnt
like drafting from his friend in iowa
yea late in the draft.
since he picked tony round 4 the first year and stanzi round 5 the next year guess next in order is picking another Iowa player round 6 this year. lol.
Tony was round 3 IIRC
Asamoah, then traded back up for Tony

oh yea traded one of our 3 5th round picks to move up, I remember now.
so if we picked tony from iowa in round 3, then the next year picked stanzi from iowa in round 5 guess this year we will pick a kid from iowa in round 7.
Or none at all haha
That pick will now to go Mizzou cause they are SEC!

Two QBs, two OTs, two CBs, three pass rushers, a WR and a RB.
Seems about right. I like these large scale surveys, interesting how close they get sometimes.
Also looks like not many people read down the whole list :)
Picking here is really the last, worst option KC can take. There’s nobody here that fits a need who won’t be available much later in the first round.
I was back and forth between DeCastro and Adams, went with DeCastro because he seems like the safer pick, what with Adams reported inconsistent play. But we could really use a RT with ability to backup the LT.

yeah, but we could get almost any RT in 2nd Round and he's be an upgrade to BRich, right?
so with that thought process, it’s imperative to NAIL that 1st Round pick … immediate starter and impact player, and I can’t imagine there being anyone more of an impact than DeCastro: unlike a RB he plays every down … he’d be crucial for opening holes on the inside in short yardage, pulling and blocking on sweeps or other runs to the right, and protecting the QB on every pass play
every down, every game (unlike a Trent Richardson, for example, who would split carries with JC and be on the field for maybe half the plays at most, and even then only gets the ball on 1/3 – 1/4 of those plays he’s on the field)
top it off with DeCastro being a true Top Ten talent (gradewise, overall) there’s simply no other player available that even comes close to making as much sense

hi, Mo! 5 minutes!!!
Except he wouldn't be guaranteed to start immediately.
He’d have to beat out Lilja. And that’s not a given, Lilja played damn well in 2010, and he’d have a MUCH better handle on the mental aspects of the NFL game, AND we very likely will have a new starter at RT which would make Lilja’s veteran presence even more valuable.
Adams, I think would have a better chance to start right off the bat. But DeCastro is a safer shot to be a solid player for a long time. Thus my conundrum, and why it would be better to trade down. Get a Glenn or Zeitler type guard to learn from Lilja, and that 2nd round RT, AND maybe a 2nd or 3rd round TE.

Or even a first round TE.
Possibilities are endless if we find a low-drafting team with a specific need.

speaking of close
The Redskins took Reiff, second was kirkpatrick by 6 votes… there were 245 total. But Reiff only wound up with 22% of the vote… that one was all over the board.
Huh. I bet they want to trade up for a QB, too.

Martin seems like the "right 56" guy
But I can see them taking DeCasto if they perceive guard as the bigger need.
