Whitlock has to apologize...again.
Mr. Whitlock weighed in on the NBA phenomenon known as "Linsanity" and had tweeted: "Some lucky lady in NYC is going to feel a couple inches of pain tonight"
If he could control his occasional outbursts, he would be recognized only as a very talented journalist.

What’s the problem getting a few laughs from your readers? We already make people famous for making fun of others.

I was once fired from a job two days after I waited on Matt Cassel and his wife Lauren Killian. Totally my AP moment to remember. Unfortunately also one of my stupidest moments.

It's the double standard
Lots of people have lost their jobs for making stereotypical jokes about black people.

I'm going to stop predicting positive things

if he just stuck to coverage and not commentary, I think he is talented. I do not like him myself, but I won’t kid myself and say he has zero talent.

Talent to twist simple things into racism against the black sports figures
And yet he tweets something like this. Classic.
I'm so overrated, I'm underrated.

He's a talented writer
Which is kind of a waste, because he just kind of pisses it away on sensationalist crap.
It's no fun if I have to explain it.
Whitlock or Salisbury, if you had to listen to one, which would it be?
Oh, man. It's my mom. She looks pissed.
Where are the resident Whitlock defenders?
I look forward to seeing them justify this.
If you want to push the envelope, you better join the writers of Family Guy.
If you want to be a respected, legitimate sports journalist, do NOT be Whitlock

Jemele Hill
is the absolute worst of all time. The Worst. I loathe her articles and even worse is when she is on tv debating with Skip Bayless

I've always wondered how someone is so quick to pull the race card on a white person
Yet someone can constantly do the opposite in such a passive-aggressive way and not suffer similar consequences.
Oh, man. It's my mom. She looks pissed.
by CharlieConway on Feb 12, 2012 12:34 PM CST up reply actions
Wow, if I had to pick between the two - I'd take Whitlock 30 times out of 10 over Jemele.
She redefines awful.
It's no fun if I have to explain it.
It's ridiculous that he felt compelled to apologize in the first place.
People are too sensitive.
Top 10 defense and another trip to the playoffs!
Tamba Hali, NFL Sack Leader, 2011
I thought Fox sports made him apologize
Plus, I don’t know if it would be that big of a deal but he makes everything to be about race then tosses something racist like that out there.
Insert witty yet thought provoking phrase here.
Compelled, one way or another
Top 10 defense and another trip to the playoffs!

That was funny
Its a joke people. If a buddy of mine would have said that at a bar id laugh, so why would I get mad at jw for it.
I wouldn’t.

Oh I agree
It is just the hypocrisy of Whitlock that bothers me. Personally I think as a society we are wayyy too sensitive and uptight but that’s for another day.

Size 20EEE could fit in that man's mouth and there would still be room for half his dinner...
Twitlock is an appropriate nickname for him.
I'm dressin my voodoo doll in stripes every season...
Lol
Whitlock is an idiot.
Can’t even commend Lin for destroying his Lakers to pieces, and shutting Kobe up.
That's funny!!
Classic line!! Everyone is too up tight these days…

Consider the source
This is a journalist who writes about his perceptions of racism against the black athlete. If he wants to be taken seriously with these racist claims, he can’t tweet something that degrades another race, whether it was a joke or not, especially considering he most definitely isn’t joking about prejudice against the black sports figures.

Yep.
How many white journalists would have been strung up and beaten like a pinata if they’d dared to say something like this? All of them.
Yet that biggot Rush Limbaugh still has a radio show
Standing on the corner in a white Godfather hat. He drives a long black gangster Cadillac. He can steal a broads mind, man, in three or four minutes. It’s not how long you talk, brother, it’s what you put in it.

Who you've never listened to, clearly.
His best friend and call screener is black, Hypocrite in vicinity to elway.
Again, I don't think you know what the term hypocrite means.
There is nothing hypocritical about me pointing out that that bigot Rush made racist comments about Don McNabb and still has a show.
You want to know what hypocritical is? Blow hards like Limbaugh preaching a hands off government and the rights of individuals and then trying to push and support legislsation that infringes on the rights of our homosexual brothers and sisters.

Clearly one of us doesn't.
Rush didn’t make a racist comment about McNabb. Why not think for yourself instead of latching onto every liberal meme propagated in the media? Rush said that he didn’t think McNabb was that good of a quarterback (which is true) and that the MEDIA was talking so much about him because he was black. It was a comment on the MEDIAS fixation on race.
But why not just ignore that the guy’s best friend is black? It’s too beneficial, hypocritical, and dishonest for H2E to not do.

No right has been infringed upon, you hypocrite.
Homosexuals can get married. What is not wanted is the definition and institution to be completely changed for no good reason.
But this is not a debate I’m going to have on arrowhead pride. Email me if you want to debate this.

And you still don't know what the term hypocrite means
In this case I would have to be infringing the rights of a group to be hypocritical is saying that the rights of a certain demographic should not be infringed upon.

I'm not referring to this in calling you a hypocrite.
That’s a general statement, unless you want to restrict people’s rights to speak out against some immoral action.
And you’re clearly not a very deep thinker as well, for no homosexual’s rights have been legislated against. They can get married all they want. It just so happens that they want to label something that isn’t marriage as marriage. It’s called redefining a word and a social institution. The state has no reason to do such societal engineering simply because ignorant people have emotional reactions to it.

Size of dicks jokes? Come on Jason, you're better than that.
And to those trying to claim hypocrisy…..a distasteful joke hardly compares to decades of exploitation. On one hand we have distasteful words of an individual, on the other we have calculated moves by groups to exploit the labor and efforts of others.

Is Whitlock writing about the calculated moves to exploit the labor and effort of the Asian community here in America?
Yeah, didn’t think so

What the fuck are you talking about?
In the past Whitlick has compared the NCAA to slavery. Making a distasteful and unfunny joke about another race does not make him a hypocrite for suggesting the NCAA athletes are indentured servents.

Clearly someone here doesn't understand what a hypocrite is.
He rails against subjugation of race in one instance, and then promotes it by making fun of someone because of their race in another. But I like the mental gymnastics you’re attempting to justify your buddy Whitlock’s behavior.
Hypocrisy is virtuous 2 elway
I didn't say it does
What does make him a hypocrite is his writings on the exploitation of the black athlete specifically, especially during the recent NFL lockout.
Never once does he write about the “indentured servitude” of any other scholarship based student and their work the university benefits from while the student gets nothing

by RememberDelaney37 on Feb 13, 2012 2:33 PM CST via mobile up reply actions
Does he know that indentured servants chose their servitude in lieu of a greater reward on the future?
Basketball players in college have great benefits, not the least of which is playing a sport they love, potential big payout in the future, and all of the character growth one goes through when playing an organized sport. But waah, they don’t get paid in college where they’re there to get an education. Psst! People with other skin colors also play basketball in college.
Hell, this argument can be used against any organized sport that people don’t get payed to play.
Whitlock, strong on rhetoric, weak on thought. He’s so focused on race that it almost cripples him.

How many Asian collegiate athletes? How many universities benefit monetarily from giving a free education to Asians and reading the rewards of the work they do their while enrolled in classes?
