The Post’s beat writer Mike Jones makes the case that signing Kyle Orton would make sense instead of Manning.

I heard Theisman babbling about Manning the other day and I wanted to puke.

Yes, Peyton would be a fantastic idea for the Redskins, but the same could be said for a large majority of the league. Peyton would fit their “win now” attitude, while also giving them time to develop a QB the right way.

The thing is, other than playing in the NFCW with his brother, why on earth would Peyton want to play in Washington with Shanahan?! And no, money won’t talk when Manning considers his many options.

I was once fired from a job two days after I waited on Matt Cassel and his wife Lauren Killian. Totally my AP moment to remember. Unfortunately also one of my stupidest moments.

I would think he wouldn't want

the Manning vs. Manning spectacle twice a year. That and the Rat seems pretty stuck in his ways, and wouldn’t likely bend a whole lot to accommodate Peyton.

I don't think Peyton and Eli enjoy it either.............

Could it be a personal decision to see his brother more often than usual?

Maybe.

Not just on the field, but for dinner, bowling, Guesstures, kids can play together etc etc. Now that I think about it, do they even have kids? If so, hopefully Pioli has his guys putting everything Chiefs in front of them. After all, advertising directly to children is America’s bread and budda.

If he wants to do that (doubtful)

then the Jets would make a lot more sense than the Redskins.

by Tarkus on Feb 11, 2012 3:02 PM CST up reply actions

That's too close.

They need their space just like anyone. ;)

[begins to talk under his breathe]

You ask me he might fit in real well down there with them Chiefs….

But why go to the AFC east

When he could come to a much more weak AFC West where the division would be ours to take each year with manning. Our top 10 D in the making and our freaky athletic WR’s with Jamaal behind him and prob a starting tackle with our #1 pick this year…Now mannings not just gonna sign with any team for money he wants to win and prove he can play and I’m sure you could make a case that he fits a lot of places but really there’s about 7-10 teams that “need” a QB and I don’t see one that has a better overall place to land than KC (if we make a run at him, which I don’t see happening) but this teams in my opinion are
Seattle-who doesn’t have much to offer besides a weak division
Cleveland-not a team that’s ready to win now and strong division
Jacksonville-but they just drafted a 1st round QB
Arizona- just signed and traded for Kolb so don’t think so
Tampa- maybe with the head coach out and a new vision for the team they make a run but that’s a tough division too and they have Josh Freeman
Sanfran

I didn't say that.

I just said if he wanted to have more family time with Eli, the Jets make a lot more sense than the Redskins.

I've never liked this argument:
When he could come to a much more weak AFC West where the division would be ours to take each year with manning.

We are talking about Peyton Manning. Peyton makes the rest of the league look “much more weak[er]”

Top 5 things Manning may consider:

1 Head Coach
2 FO
3 Defense
4 Offensive weapons
5 Money

I don't know about that order.

But I agree that he won’t be looking for an easy division. He has way too much confidence himself to worry about that.

Yea I guess your right

When your one of the best your probably not too concerned with that

And I think we meet what's on that list

But do we really see Pioli even making a run at him….I don’t

I do.

But I’m also one that is convinced that Pioli will do whatever it takes to win championships. The likelihood of everything falling into place for the Chiefs is probably slim, but I like the guys in charge at Arrowhead.

I could only imagine

What Bowe Baldwin and Breaston could do with Manning at the helm he could toss every ball up, not to get all crazy but that could have potential for 3 1000 yard WR’s

of course not. It’s just not Pioli’s MO.

by Topchief1 on Feb 11, 2012 7:38 PM CST up reply actions

Why defense, HC, and FO ahead of offensive weapons you might ask?

Peyton Manning’s hand under center has that magic to make the entire offense explode. It’s no secret he’s one of the best ever at commanding and executing.

Doesn't mean he WANTS to do it all.

I’m sure he loves weapons as much as the next guy.

by Tarkus on Feb 11, 2012 3:33 PM CST up reply actions

Agreed.

And a solid defense paired with a winning FO attitude would give him everything he needs.

Buffalo-idk anything about them
Washington- he doesn’t fit the Mike S system at all with roll outs and bootlegs

I know that.

I just stated he made me want to puke.

Then I went right into my opinion on the matter. I can see how you read it though.
