Chiefs' interest in Routt makes sense
"I think it is a smart move for the Chiefs to at least see what Routt is looking for and to give themselves options in case they think Carr will leave. Because there is so much interest in Routt, this process could take some time."

it makes some sense, yes ... but it's NOT good that the guy's agent made it known the Chiefs were interested
if I’m Pioli I’d be furious with that little leak

I've seen several say it's a "negotiation tactic" by Pioli

Carr is going to see what he can get on the open market regardless of this move.
Pioli is just seeing what others are asking for fair market value of CB’s, and putting that info on what Carr might be looking.
Go Chiefs!!!!
I've seen a few say that it hurts us because it may set the market for Carr.
I personally believe that helps us. If Carr wants to see what the market is, he is going to do it no matter what, and that market will undoubtedly go up as soon as the doors to free agency are open and teams start throwing crazy money at the other top corners.
If Routt is offered a reasonable deal prior to Carr hitting the market, it may allow the Chiefs to convince him that the market has already been set.
I am also in the camp that it is a pure negotiation tactic. Most moves in the NFL are very scripted.
