"I've gotten a lot of calls and texts and emails from people around the league, both good and bad about him," Roethlisberger said in an interview with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "Everybody has an opinion, as we all know, and they're letting me know what their interaction with him was -- good, bad and indifferent. I've heard a lot of things and I'm looking forward to meeting him and forming my own opinion."

How could Roethlisberger not want to master the draw, screens, and 5 yard pass plays

Well Big Ben can actually get the ball downfield, and in a hurry
So I’d just about bet the play calling reflects that ability.
An ability we don’t really see around these parts.
It's no fun if I have to explain it.
Our local sporst bar, where I work part-time
is owned by Steeler fans, frequented by Steeler fans, one of whom is from Pittsburgh and stays in touch with the locals. He said the skinny in Pittsburgh is that Haley was brought in to reign in Roethlisberger and help him become “more disciplined.”
Heh. We’ll see how that goes.
Interesting the two of them still haven’t met face-to-face and are talking about different directions publicly.
It is time to anoint the Stanzi. He is The One.
So Cowher and Tomlin couldnt "Reign" him in
Now it is Todd’s job, smells of scapegoat if he fails. no risk for the steelers, though.
What I am not getting though is
for a while now, people have said Haley is an OC at best. And that he was good because he had an elite QB and great receivers.
Now he IS an OC, has a Super Bowl caliber QB, great receivers and a decent running game, yet all of a sudden it’s a “bad move” by the Steelers.
Just seems like no matter how it’s spun and what has been said, ol’ Todd isn’t going to catch much fair judgment in his new position around here.
This is towards this thread as well as others who have implied Haley would be a disaster here and that the HB draw would be the only play on the menu.
I think he should do very well there in Pittsburgh

hi, Mo! 5 minutes!!!
I agree
I mean I hope we destroy them, but I think Tomlin is an excellent coach and someone like Haley who is also young and energetic should really boost this offense.
He is suppose to be an offensive guru and they are suppose to be able to hide your offenses weaknesses
I think that a lot of people (including myself) got tired of seeing how that he wasn’t able to hide our offensive problems and didn’t adapt to what was being taken away in games. Then the Palko thing was just the icing on the cake.

a few points to consider
1) We lost Moeaki, taking away part of the game planning ability
2) We lost Charles, taking away our biggest offensive weapon
3) Pioli brought in Baldwin who wasn’t available for almost half the season
4) Pioli is the one who got Palko to begin with
5) when Cassel went down the ONLY alternatives were Palko and Stanzi
6) based on eyewitnesses of Stanzi (posted in other threads) he was TOTALLY not ready
7) Orton was unable to play the first game due to being here only one day
8) when Orton did go in the next game he suffered a broken or dislocated finger
given ALL of those true things, not ONE but EIGHT reasons … I think even the best of OC’s might have some problems, don’t you think?

hi, Mo! 5 minutes!!!
In the Steelers game after Palko gave the ball away 3 straight times inside our 20
that should have been the end of the Palko era right there. That guy down in Houston (who had almost no practice time just like Stanzi), I think his name is TJ Yates played pretty decent for a 5th round rookie QB debunking the crap Haley was saying.
How about the Jets game when Haley was asked how come he didn’t bench Palko for Stanzi, which at that point everyone knew Palko shouldn’t be on the field, and his answer was “I thought about it.” That’s the kind of stupid ass answer a kid gives his parent when they know they in trouble.
