Browns fans share their Romeo Crennel memories

Dawgs By Nature remembers Romeo the same way we know him now.

It's reunion day in Cleveland as Romeo Crennel, Brady Quinn, Brian Daboll, Peyton Hillis and other former Browns visit Cleveland. The KC Chiefs are the underdogs with Romeo Crennel at the helm.

I talked with Chris Pokorny of Dawgs By Nature earlier this week and asked for some Romeo memories. What do Browns fans remember about the Romeo era?

"In terms of a specific moment with Romeo Crennel that I remember the most, here is one," Pokorny wrote. "I always loved RB Jerome Harrison, but Crennel always seemed to have something against the guy. In a primetime game against Buffalo back in 2008, Harrison had like an 80-yard touchdown run, and the whole team was ecstatic. Then, the television cameras flashed to Crennel, who had the most "I'm furious" look you could imagine, which had me laughing given the circumstances."

We've all had our fun interpreting the game day face of Romeo Crennel.

"I liked Crennel in the sense that he was a nice guy," Pokorny continued, "but pretty much anything football-related drove me nuts about him. That includes playcalling, game management, personnel decisions, etc. I was stunned that he got another head coaching position, because he was completely lost in that role on gameday when he was with the Browns. He seems like a good coordinator when he can focus on just doing that."

That's how a LOT of people describe his time in Kansas City -- great guy, great coordinator, but seems overmatched as the head coach. Two different sets of fans have come to the same conclusion about him ... that's probably not a coincidence.
