Chiefs send Allen Bailey to IR and bring back a familiar face

Doug Pensinger

KC made two roster moves on Thursday.

The Kansas City Chiefs are sending a 2011 draft pick to injured reserve -- Allen Bailey. Romeo Crennel announced at his Thursday press conference that Bailey's season is over due to an ankle injury. He was a 2011 draft pick by the Chiefs and played defensive end.

Here's the Chiefs depth chart at defensive end:

RDE Ropati Pitoitua, Allen Bailey
LDE Tyson Jackson, Shaun Smith

Earlier today I saw a report that free agent linebacker Leon Williams had worked out for the Chiefs and, whaddya know, the Chiefs signed him. Crennel announced that Williams will replace Bailey's roster spot.

Williams has some familiarity with the Chiefs -- he went to training camp in St. Joe with them this year -- and with Crennel -- he was with him in Cleveland.

Given the recent events, Williams could be needed at inside linebacker this weekend.
