As I walked off the airplane I was reading the news, I didn't know how to feel! I read that a tragedy had happened. Twitter said the game might be canceled, my flight was scheduled to leave Monday, I didn't know what to think or do! My phone was blowing up with text from everyone I knew asking me about a situation they had heard about on TV! My friend is a Die Hard Panther Fan, he made the trip with me. We both just kinda didn't know what to do,say, think, feel or expect! So we went to Arrowhead, liked we had planed. The staff their was nice but you could tell it was bothering them. I took the stadium tour, The Red Coat that was their was amazing with his knowledge but you could tell he didn't know how to feel, one of the Cheerleaders was on the tour with us, she didn't have words for it either !We Then went to out hotel the Durry INN near the stadium, and out to eat! The mood at the Independence Mall was the same for what fans i happen to have a conversation with! I was amazed how many people from the airport to the mall were talking Chiefs football.
So Game day arrives and theirs just a eerie feeling that morning! The abnormal temperature's to the foggy overcast morning. I'm pumped as this is my first game at Arrowhead! I walk the George Brett Bridge over to the parking lot. I wasn't too shocked that it wasn't full, but had really wished I could see it that way to know what it felt like in a good year! I walked a couple laps around the stadium. My Friend and I were overly impressed with the fans, they were not trash talking or rude! I never heard a negative comment from a Chief's fan! I was just wanting to take it all in! I did run into a couple fans that said they came because of the tragedy, but from what I could tell most came to support the Chiefs because it what they always do! We where the first in line to go into the stadium! I couldn't wait to get to my seats and see warm-ups. I had a blast! we set in set 119 12 rows up. We sat near some very knowledgeable Women Chiefs fan's, which kinda surprised us both! I had a blast from the first fly-over at a game I've attended anywhere till the end of the game! I loved the Hall of Honor, simply amazing! I wish I had more time.
While leaving the game I encountered the first rude fan of the day, to my surprise it was a panther fan driving by saying something about my buddy who's decked out in his Cam jersey walking next to a chiefs fan, me being Decked out in my Charles jersey! I was shocked. we did encounter one drunk and rude chiefs fan at the gas station. We then went to the Power and Light District to grab a bite to eat and see downtown! I Loved the downtown area, It's beautiful. My overall take on Kansas City is that the people were down home friendly, a beautiful city, one I wish I had the chance to spend more time in! I do plan on coming back!
I only wish that I could of seen Arrowhead on a normal game day, not the one after a tragedy. I'd loved to seen the parking lots full along with the stadium. I didn't think it would be as loud as it was with all the empty seats I saw, but I can see why its the loudest stadium in the NFL!
