To me, this is the most convincing argument that Pioli is not returning next year; we’ve signed zero contract extensions with our own players that have contracts expiring. That list would include: Dwayne Bowe, Brandon Albert, Glen Dorsey, and Dustin Colquitt. I would also add Tyson Jackson who has one more year on contract that pays him $14 million in base salary – it will either need to be restructured or he will be released.
I could understand letting Dorsey walk, but why no action on the others? The only way this makes sense to me is if Clark has told him not to conduct business for the future…
But let’s say I’m wrong. Let’s pretend for the moment that Pioli IS coming back. What possible reasons could there be for not signing any extensions?
I’ll throw out some ideas:
They’re trying, but players won’t sign.
They’re planning on letting most of them walk.
There will be a new HC and Pioli wants his input.
What are your thoughts?
