3 Options for the Kansas City Chiefs

Season’s Greetings to all my AP brothers and sisters! I have had a long Hyades from Arrowhead Pride since moving from the hustle and bustle of Army Recruiting to Fort Bragg North Carolina. With yesterday’s loss and the Chiefs getting a guaranteed top 2 pick I have had a thought running through my mind and decided to put it down on paper. This is probably the 1st of many Mock Draft who will we take that will flood the AP blogging world we co-exist in. This may be premature but I haven’t contributed to AP is a while and honestly I miss the one line zingers from HIV2ELWAY, Tarkus with his even keel comments, Joel calming the masses down, my only friend in the Play Stanzi Ramx21 or even the LadyChief gifs and funnies.. Heck this thought process might even get KCSATCHMO to come out the woodwork and put in his 2 cents… without further rambling this is what I see happening with this organization

We have the number 1 overall pick.

FACT:

WE need a Quarterback. It’s a desperate reeking foul smelly elephant in the room that; not only we as diehard fans know, recognize and protest over with banners and blackouts but the ENTIRE LEAGUE KNOWS THIS FACT.

FACT:

WE know that we don’t know what this organization is going to do with this pick that is charge of picking it or whom is going to be the Head Coach to teach guide and direct with this pick.

FACT:

Its soooo Kansas City that when we are positioned to get a number 1 pick overall and that there is no consensus number 1 can’t miss QB in this year’s draft. I would like to call it the curse of the Blackledge.

Using this mentality Kansas City can do 1 of three things.

OPTION 1:

GO AHEAD AND DRAFT THE DAMN QUARTERBACK: Geno Smith, West Virginia. Do not entertain trades do not entertain the stud ILB from Notre Dame Manti Teo. Do NOT entertain trading for Kirk Cousins and that pipeline dream of Shannonhan’s sons being our new HC. Just pull the trigger. Take a swing. Throw a dart on the dart board and pick one. Period.

Geno Smith has cannon of an arm and he is elusive. He seems to be a mature young man similar to that of RGIII, which admittedly was coveted by myself and damn near the rest of AP. I am not a pro scout but if there was a QB to take number 1 it is Geno. From the games I watched, the highlight reels and interviews he just seems to be a great option to go with. A side note with Geno Smith: I find it funny that when the Chiefs were not out of it all nor had a clear shot at the 1st overall pick, the panels of experts were clamoring over Geno. Now that it’s more abundantly clear that we are picking 1st and or 2nd, Geno Smith isn’t that good anymore. This is a media thing IMHO but I digress.

OPTION 2:

This is the second of the most likely scenarios to happen. WE select a defensive player. I believe any player worth taking with the number 1 overall pick in this year’s draft is Manti Teo ILB Notre Dame. Now I am a Golden Domer homer and I think believe that this kid is going to be a stud. He is not going to be a 10 sack a season stud. He has the ability to be the other DJ in our LB corps, a ILB tackling machine that can cover the ever elusive TE which has been the Chiefs Achilles heel in the defense. (I know we need a CB with Brandon Carr gone) He will be the Ying to DJ’s Yang. WE have the Ying and Yang duo in Hali/Houston so complete the LB corps and elevate our defense to elite status for many years to come.

BUT MAS The QB!! Your crazy and I’m glad you’re NOT the GM!! QUIT DRINKING SOO EARLY!!

Got it. I understand where you are coming from and with Quarterbacks like Dalton, Kapernick and Wilson whom are 2nd and 3 round picks and are damn good the Chiefs could select Tyler or Bray Wilson with the 33rd overall pick. Heck I think Glennon will be there with the 33rd pick.

OPTION 3:

WE trade the pick. Stay with me now. Let me highlight this tid bit I wrote earlier:

FACT:

WE need a Quarterback. It’s a desperate reeking foul smelly elephant in the room that; not only we as diehard fans know, recognize and protest over with banners and blackouts but the ENTIRE LEAGUE KNOWS THIS FACT.

Who else is desperate enough to trade with Kansas City for a Quarterback that may covet Geno Smith with the 1st overall pick in this years draft?

Oakland: Nope they wont trade up, Al’s gone and they are picking 3rd

Jacksonville: Nope they will be 2nd behind us and not worth trading up. Plus there is the rumors of trading for Tim Tebow.

Who else is out there that is as desperate for a quarterback as the chiefs are?

The Arizona Cardinals- 8th pick overall

Arizona screwed up this past offseason. They have a QB disaster with Skelton and Kolb going back and forth at the starting QB position. Arizona has a decent DEF that shows flashes of greatness, much like the Chiefs and they have a Great WR set much like the Chiefs. We may lose Bowe which would be devastating to our offensive potential BUT Arizona has Larry Fitzgerald in his prime locked up for years to come with no QB and a really good WR2 in Malcolm Floyd.

So if Arizona is desperate to stay in competition with the revamped Seattle Seahawks, surging San Francisco 49ers and bland St Louis Rams; they need a QB. If we went this route we could, in theory, trade down to number 8th pick and ask for a king’s ransom for the pick.

If this were to transpire then at number 8 in the first round we select the BPA which would more than likely be a QB. This whole thing rests on Arizona and if they are desperate enough and believe in Geno Smith and are willing to trade up.

Any way you look at this situation, agree or disagree with me on these Options, it will be interesting to watch how the future of this franchise goes. I want a Quarterback. As much as I love Manti Teo and believe in him.... Its Geno Smith with our 1st overall pick. What do y'all think? Have a Merry Christmas and be safe !!

Stay Classy Kansas City
