Chiefs players plan to set up a fund for Jovan Belcher's daughter

US PRESSWIRE

Brady Quinn talks about the tragic day at Arrowhead.

More details regarding the death of KC Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher at Arrowhead Stadium are coming out in this story from the KC Star's Adam Teicher. Chiefs quarterback Brady Quinn talked to Teicher and described the scene when Crennel had to tell the team what happened.

At that moment Romeo Crennel, stopping at various junctures to maintain his composure, told Quinn and his teammates that linebacker Jovan Belcher had shot and killed his girlfriend, 22-year-old Kasandra Perkins, before going to the practice facility and ending his own life.

"It was obviously tough for Coach to have to tell us that," Quinn said. "He really wasn't able to finish talking to us. We got together and prayed and then we moved on."

Wow. I feel sick to my stomach. I feel like I wanna cry. This is just ... the worst situation I could ever imagine.

There's a lot more in there from Quinn, who does as good as you could as the Chiefs spokesman right now. Quinn said he wished he knew what he could've done to stop this and recognized the real tragedy, that the world loses two people and a daughter grows up without parents.

That daughter, by the way, will receive some help from Chiefs players. Quinn told Teicher that some of the players are "going to try to set up a fund to try to take care of his daughter."

The Chiefs are at the team hotel tonight, where former Chief Brian Waters was sent to talk with the players.
