so everyone knows our qb situation sucks. thats pretty much a given. while some are still excited about stanzi, there's still a reason he's not starting even though the season has been lost for a while. chances are (and he showed it in the preseason) that hes worse than both cassel and quinn. lets look at some fun stats from back up/rookie qb's from around the league from this week.
tannehill - 14/28, 141 yards, 1 TD 2 INT's - dolphins lost to buffalo 14-19
weeden - 20/35, 210 yards, 2 TD's 0 INT's - browns lost to dallas in OT 20-23
henne - 16/33, 354 yards, 4 TD's 0 INT's- jags lost to houston 37-43
foles - 21/46, 204 yards, 0 TD's 2 INT's- eagles lost to washinton 6-31
RG3 - 14/15, 200 yards, 4 TD's 0 INT's- washington beat philly 31-6
luck - 27/50, 334 yards, 2 TD's 3 INT's - indy lost to NE 24-59
kaepernick (at half time) 12/15, 184 yards, 1 TD 0 INT's. SF beating chicago 20-0
so how did our chiefs QB's fare compared to the new guys? lets take our guys averages...
cassel for the season - 161/277 (17.9-30.7 per game), 199.6 ypg, 0.67 TD's/game, 1.3 INT's/game (7 fumbles on the year too...)
cassels story: cassel has 4 seasons of starting experience in the NFL. these guys have 0. the fact that these rooks are beating (very badly) matt cassel on teams with much less talent is just sad. he should at least have more TD's than picks (has twice as many picks as TD's by the way to go along with 7 fumbles....more than 3 times the turnovers than scores. bad.) at the very least.
Quinn for the season - 35/58 308 yards, 0 TD's and 3 INT's.
quinns story: hes a tough one to analyze as hes played in 4 games but only attempted 6 passes in 2 of those combined games....but at the end of the day, the guy just isnt producing. while i like him more than cassel, thats like saying id rather drink pee over eat poo. both suck. fact is, quinn has played in 4 games and has less passing yards than 2 of these guys in single games. he has less TD's than 6 of the 7 guys listed above. id take quinn over cassel still....but would take any of the guys listed above over any of our rostered QB's.
our staff SUCKS at analyzing qb's. not much more to say than that. its embarassing that these guys can come in and lead their teams the way they are (again, with much less talent...SF is probably the only team with the same or better talent to what is on KC's current roster and even that can be debated when on their game) yet we have to rely on charles to carry the team every week and when he cant the rest just flounders. he cant do it alone, romeo.
lets add onto this a little bit right now and find some QB's that are out there right now we could use...
vince young - 755/1304 (57.9%) 8964 yards, 46 TD's, 51 INT's 31-19 career record as a starter
donovan mcnabb - 3170/5374 (59.0%), 37,276 yards, 234 TD's, 117 INT's, 98-62-1 career record as a starter
seneca wallace - 452/764 (59.2%), 4808 yards, 31 TD's, 18 INT's, 6-15 career record as a starter
david garrard - 1406/2281 (61.6%), 16,003 yards, 89 TD's, 54 INT's, 39-37 career record as a starter
and to more easily compare our current QB's to these....
cassel - 1203/2044 (58.9%), 13,495 yards, 82 TD's, 57 INT's, 29-33 career record as a starter
quinn - 219/411 (53.3%), 2210 yards, 10 TD's, 12 INT's, 3-11 career record as a starter
you can make your own judgement from the stats above. in my opinion, all 4 quarterbacks that are still CURRENTLY NOT ON A TEAM are all better than EVERY QB WE HAVE ON THE ROSTER. you can argue vince young sucking...and you may be right. but cassel is worse. VY had little talent around him and is also mobile. much better leader than cassel. mcnabb may be washed up....but were relieving cassel of his duties come seasons end if not already. quinn just flat can't win no matter where hes at. stanzi is worse than cassel and quinn otherwise with how desperate we are to win he'd be in. we literally could drop our entire qb part of the roster RIGHT NOW and sign three of these guys off the street and be better.
this, pioli, is why you should be fired. im in the middle of the season and can find QB's better than what the current roster has. and to think...manning was available at one point. wow....just wow.
