The rare Dwayne Bowe interview went down today at the KC Chiefs complex, according to the Kansas City Star. Check out this story for lots of quotes from the Chiefs receiver, who doesn't speak to the media very often.
Bowe covers a lot of ground in the KC Star story but the big one is his future in Kansas City.
First, the back story. A few weeks ago, around the trade deadline, Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports reported this:
I can report this: Bowe wants out of KC very badly. Not exactly a revelation, but true.— Jason Cole (@JasonColeYahoo) October 17, 2012
To which Bowe calls bullshit.
"Why wouldn't I want to stay here? It's a no-brainer for me," said Bowe, who became emphatic once the topic was introduced. "I never said I didn't want to be here. I never said that. This is where it started for me. This is where people know me from. That's crazy to me. When I heard that, I was like, ‘Where did that come from?' I never said I wanted out."
Cole's not the only reporter who says Bowe would like to leave KC. But we've never actually heard that from him and probably never will whether he wants to leave KC or not.
Bowe's future with the Chiefs boils down to who is running the team next year. Maybe it's Scott Pioli. Maybe it's not. Under Pioli, as Teicher says, it seems unlikely the Chiefs would extend Bowe. Maybe a new GM would feel differently.
