Jake Roth-US PRESSWIRE
Dorsey's season is over.
The Kansas City Chiefs placed Glenn Dorsey on injured reserve, ending his 2012 season. The Chiefs haven't officially announced the move yet but a couple of media outlets are reporting it, including CBS Sports and NFL.com.
It's been a disappointing one for Dorsey who has dealt with a pair of calf injuries this season.
Dorsey was hurt in Week 3 with a calf injury that ended up costing him a month. He hurt his other calf last Thursday night against the Chargers and has now been placed on IR.
This is the final year of Dorsey's contract, which is why you're seeing people wonder whether this is it for him. Dorsey was the Chiefs' 5th overall pick in the 2008 NFL draft and played out his entire rookie contract.
The Chiefs signed Shaun Smith this week so he'll be in the rotation at defensive end. Ropati Pitoitua will also see some more time.
Dorsey to IR doesn't change anything this season but for the first time in five seasons we could see someone other than Dorsey regularly lining up on the defensive line.
