Matt Cassel injury: How long will Chiefs QB be out?

Denny Medley-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Some are doubting Cassel will be ready for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay.

There is some doubt that Matt Cassel will be ready for the Kansas City Chiefs Week 6 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Chiefs haven't confirmed anything but reports say he suffered a concussion in the game against the Baltimore Ravens.

We don't know how long he'll be out but it's notable that two reporters from the Kansas City Star both think he's likely out for the Chiefs Week 6 game.

Here's what Adam Teicher said:

Barring an unforeseen and quick turnaround for Cassel, the Quinn era will begin for the Chiefs with next week's game at Tampa Bay.

And Randy Covitz:

Doubtful. The NFL is being extremely cautious with head injuries, and with the Chiefs having a bye the following week, Cassel would have two weeks to clear the cobwebs and be ready for the Raiders on Oct. 28.

Those look more like reading-the-tea-leaves than inside information so we'll wait and see on this but we should prepare to see Brady Quinn playing on Sunday.

Update: More from Teicher after hearing Romeo talk today:
