What the Chiefs are missing with the loss of Kevin Boss

Besides leadership, not many players are 6'7 like Boss was.

The loss of Kevin Boss won't be devastating to the Kansas City Chiefs but it won't be easy. Boss was placed on IR, ending his season with a concussion he suffered in Week 2.

The onus will now come on Tony Moeaki, Steve Maneri and Jake O'Connell to fill the void.

But what else are the Chiefs missing with Boss gone? Chiefs coach Romeo Crennel talked about what the team loses with Boss out.

Kevin provided some leadership for us, plus he's a big body who has a good catch radius, good hands and could stretch the defense in the routes that we were asking him to run. And with that big body at the line of scrimmage, he does a nice job of getting movement on off-tackle plays, so we kind of lose that. Having that frame, when you match up, there aren't many 6-7 linebackers running around out there. Any matchup with a linebacker, he had an advantage and had an advantage on safeties as well. We kind of lose that.

The red zone is where you might miss him as well because of his height. As Romeo said, being 6'7 provides a lot of advantages, especially in the red zone.
