2013 could be our year!!!

It's early October, and we should be talking about our 3-1 record (or 4-0), our amazing defense, Jamal's comeback player of the year potential, RAC's stellar coaching, and Pioli's brilliance in putting together a well balanced, deep rostered team.

Instead we're talking about Matt Cassel's poor QB play, and next year's draft.

It got me thinking. What if I'm wrong, and Pioli does decide to draft a QB in the 1st round? Who can we get?

According to cbssports.com, there are currently 5 potential 1st round QB's:

Matt Barkley, Geno Smith (dude just threw more TD passes in one game than Cassel has all season), Tyler Wilson, Tyler Bray, and EJ Manuel.

Right now, I don't care which one we get (but I do think Geno would look good playing behind center at Arrowhead), I'm just wondering who we'll be competing against to draft a QB.

The way I see it, there are only a handful of teams who will even look at QB in the first round next year. They are Buffalo, Pittsburgh (maybe), Arizona and Oakland. I mean, let's break it down:

NFC East: Romo, Manning, Vick/Foles, RGIII

NFC North: Cutler, Stafford, Rodgers, Ponder

NFC South: Ryan, Newton, Brees, Freeman

NFC West: Smith/ Kaepernick, Wilson/ Flynn, Bradford. Then Arizona has Kolb/ Skelton. They MIGHT look.

AFC East: Fitzpatrick (who signed a big contract, but has struggled ever since), Tannehill, Brady, Sanchez/ Tebow

AFC North: Flacco, Dalton, Weedon, and then Pittsburgh's Roethlisberger/ Leftwich/ Batch. Big Ben plays hard and takes a beating every year. They MIGHT look just for insurance.

And then there's our AFC West: Manning, Rivers, the give away all draft picks and money man in Oakland, and our dear Matt Cassel.

Matt Cassel chiefs drops his hat He even overthrows his OWN HEAD!!

If you look closely, it seems like everyone other than the four teams mentioned have either drafted their stud QB, their QBOTF, or already have a Future HOF QB.Some could argue the Jets might take a 1st round QB, some will say that Pittsburgh won't. I don't know, I'm just a fan!

Soooo, now we have to figure out which of these other four teams will potentially draft first. It could be us if things continue, but realistically, Buffalo and Oakland could draft ahead of us.

We can and should have a top 3 QB prospect next year. Right now, I'm on the Geno Smith bandwagon. Any thoughts?
