Week 6 and I don’t think any of us could have imagined it being this bad. This was the team that was supposed to compete for the division right? Like did a bunch of guys go down with an ACL injury and they just put someone else in their uniforms? I doubt it. I like facts. I like numbers. The facts are that this team is bad. Really bad. We will play the Browns and Raiders twice and we will see if we are the worst team in the league. If you are talking about being the worst team in the league, the QB, head coach and GM should all be looking over their shoulder for that pink slip. Let’s see what has happened since Pioli has been here.
He will turn our team around. Well we will start with the record 4-12, 10-6, 7-9, 1-5. Or overall 22-32. That’s bad. You can say well we made the playoffs. That is more and more looking like a fluke. A little lucky, an easy schedule, maybe even the guys that were already here were hitting their prime. Any way that you look at it, it looks like we are regressing from that playoff year two years ago.
He will bring in a top head coach. Two head coaches, two flops. Todd Haley probably held this team together more than we thought. Romeo is getting outcoached every single game. How many shots do you get at hiring coaches? Jeff Fisher was apparently here for 20 minutes before he threw up the deuces. Maybe that’s not true, but Manning didn’t even want to come here for a meeting so what does that tell you.
He’s a drafting genius. Well that’s what we heard when he came here. Instead we have a lot of lackluster play from our draft classes. First round picks include Tyson Jackson, Eric Berry, Jonathan Baldwin and Dontari Poe. Now there is still hope for pretty much all of those players, but they aren’t the impact players we expected them to be. Berry isn’t a bust, but he might be the 5th best player on a defense that is allowing 30.5 points per game. It’s not like Pioli has drafted complete bust every pick, but there isn’t much to show for it. The best players on this team are probably in this order, Jamaal Charles, Tamba Hali, Derrick Johnson, Dwayne Bowe, Brandon Flowers, Brandon Albert. Yes, these guys have had time to develop and maybe one day there will be a few guys who come around but no one minus Justin Houston is really surging to be a top 6 player on a team that is 1-5. Which leads me to my next point.
This team has so much talent on here. Really? I mean yes, I think we are better than the 1-5 record shows but really talented teams don’t lose their games by an average of 16.4 points. To be honest that should be closer to 20 points but we got a few garbage touchdowns in the fourth quarter in at least 3 of those games. People will say that oh well a good coach and we could win games. Well if that is the case then we should trade our first round draft pick for a good coach because there won’t be a player minus maybe a quarterback that can overcome more than a 2 TD difference.
For those of you who still want Pioli (who most of you have probably stopped reading) I will say this. Why? Is it because you don’t like change? Things could get better or things could be worse? You are spending your money, time and energy on a team that you hope just for hope sake that the Chiefs figure it out when management has done nothing but be an embarrassment. Where are we going to find another GM in week 6? It doesn’t really matter at this point. What is Pioli going to do to this roster that will turn this year around? You can just live without a GM for the year especially when the team is in the process of playing for the first overall pick. Start recruiting for a new GM now. So why should we want Pioli here? Are you scared? That’s the way that Pioli manages this organization. Scared. He gets players and coaches that he is familiar with because he doesn’t want to do anything that’s not the Patriots way. Don’t take big risks and if you are wrong don’t admit mistakes, it shows weakness.
Do you really want the guy who has not proved himself to pick a QB to be picking one in the first round? Then surround that QB with coaches that will develop him when he hasn’t proved he can find a head coach to lead this team. Hunt should make it clear to this organization and the fans that Pioli wasn’t brought here to rebuild this franchise twice.
