But nothing official has been made.

From a lot of indications it sure looks like Brady Quinn is going to start the KC Chiefs game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. Matt Cassel didn't practice on Wednesday after his concussion four days ago and Quinn took the first team snaps as a result.

Usually we hear from Cassel, the starting quarterback, on Wednesday. Today the Chiefs sent out comments from Quinn. Despite all the indications that he'll start, Quinn says...

  • "I'm still just preparing and staying ready. Nothing official has been made. At this point I'm just still doing my job."
  • "At the same time, nothing official has been made, I'm just trying to prepare myself for the opportunity if it comes."
  • "We haven't really talked about it. We're focused on Tampa Bay. That's where all of our focus is. For me personally, I'm just preparing. There has been nothing official made. I'm trying to do all I can to prepare myself physically and mentally for that opportunity."

The Chiefs probably won't make a ruling on Cassel until Friday. If he doesn't practice tomorrow and/or Friday, I'll feel pretty confident in saying he won't play.

For you Ricky Stanzi fans, he is now your No. 2.

"The only difference is really more scout team reps," Stanzi said. "Brady's taking all the ones so I'll be taking all the twos and I take those reps very seriously and just try to get the mental part of it down in case I go in there. If you go in there you just have to pick up where the first guy left off and keep the chains moving."

Everyone ready for the Brady Quinn era?*

(*Things I never thought I'd actually be saying but kinda wished I would.)
