Look I am the first one to tell you Pioli needs to go, but as bad as Pioli has been it could be worse. If you are championing Pioli getting fired then my question to you is who would you replace him with?

The good news is "the Clarks" showed us when he hired Pioli that he is not afraid to pay a "top prospect" GM to come save the Chiefs Kingdom. Replacing Pioli sounds great on a bar stool, but I think the ramifications of this decision are bigger than it seems on the surface. New GM's almost always bring in new head coaches, and then coordinators, etc. Will we then move to a 4-3 and have to replace defensive personnel, or play them out of position.

How will a change at GM affect the QB position? The good news is this would clearly end the Cassel era in KC. Would the new GM want to draft a QB with the 1st rd pick in 2013? If so, then what coaches is the GM bringing in to develop this "Franchise QB"? Would they bring in a veteran QB? The answer to these questions are crucial to the long term and short term success of the Chiefs. If we hit we are set for the next decade plus hopefully, but if we miss we will likely be in the same boat 4-5 years from now. So who would you want to draft your next QB of the future? Its been 30 years since we drafted a 1st rd QB, and that did not work out to well for us. Do you want to miss out on Jim Kelley or Dan Marino again?

All I really know is that I don't want Pioli botching this pick, or using it as an excuse to not get fired for a couple more years. Let's be real, Pioli's drafts have not been amazing. So if not Pioli then who? I would personally start looking in the Ravens scouting/personnel department for a draft Guru under Newsomes' tutelage. In my opinion, the Ravens draft the best in the NFL. If you here Clark Hunt who would you pick?
