Why is everyone hot for Matt Flynn?
He's not anywhere closed to as accomplished a player as Matt Cassel. Cassel has excelled, both in his Pro Bowl year last season and for close to a full season at New England. Flynn has started all of 2 games. TWO games.

Because he threw for 480 yards and 6 touchdowns in 1 game.
There are only 5-10 great qb’s in the league at this time, so everyone else is stuck looking for the next elite quarterback, while some teams sit back with an average at best quarterback and hope to build around him or that he will improve.
At least I can still hate the stinking Raiders!

Next to the Saints, there isn't a better cast of offensive players
Flynn would look average in any other offense.
It was LAST year
By your logic, you should ignore the past performance of ALL players, those you’re about to sign, those you’re about to draft… Cassell isn’t even 30.
Well Flynn's games are in the past
Therefore we shouldn’t talk about him at all!

To get into the playoffs, and then to win, it's pretty obvious that a team has to take a
chance and find an elite QB. It can be done through the draft, a FA or develop your own but very few teams reach the playoffs and win all the way to the SB without one. After Luck and RGIII, Flynn appears to have the background and performance to be an elite QB. It’s a risk, but just like NO’s did with Brees and his injury, the Chief’s somehow need to go out and find that right player and until they do, the possibility of winning a Super Bowl is very limited.
Did you watch him play against Detroit?
Sorry, but he looked like a bad version of Matt Cassel. The stats were incredible, but that was due to poor D by Detroit & his receivers making plays.
Predictions:
I'm going to stop predicting positive things
please...
Com Att Yds Pct Y/A Sack YdsL TD Int Rating
Matt Flynn(notes) 31 44 480 70.5 10.9 3 11 6 1 136.4

they played the same time the Chiefs played
i have priorities….but i did see the highlights over and over and over…….kid played a GREAT GAME…nothing anybody says will convince me he didnt….its the NFL, if you complete 70 percent of your passes for almost 500 yards and 6 TDs and set franchise records, you played one HELLUVA game…..you guys would argue anything.

he had back to back games over 400 yards...in New England
but he sure as hell never had 6 TDs.

Ill be honest..
I dont know that much about Flynn…Ive seen him play very well with a very good team a couple of times…
I have seen Cassel at his best, it aint good enough to get us to a SB…
Everything he did last year, to me, was bullshit. He made it as a probowl RESERVE against a BUNCH of very weak teams. 10 wins, ALL against losing teams, and STILL did not look that good doing it. Everytime he played against a good team, he got his ass whooped(so did Haley)…
Flynn at least gives me HOPE.

That's the point. Cassel has shown the ability to win against the weaker teams as long
as everything is going his way but put him in the tough games and he falls apart. I can’t see Cassel ever taking a team to the Super Bowl and with Flynn at least, there are signs that he can be very good and maybe even elite. The Chief’s have to take a chance if they ever expect to go to and win a Super Bowl.
So Flynn played 2 good games against weak secondaries on a great offense
Somehow he has shown signs of being elite?
Cassel can win against weak teams=bad
Flynn can sling it against weak secondaries=good
Yeahh.. about that logic

Was he on the defending SB champs with a great offense?
I think not.

Chiefs fans are always hot for backup QBs
It’s our sickest tradition. This fanbase still has it bad for Trent Green, and I’m guessing at least 60 percent of AP was in love with Thiggy.
thats because of where we usually draft...
we are usually middle of the pack, which means the good QBs are gone by then….or you have to sell the farm to move up to get one…
