Drafting an inside linebacker who probably needs some sort of medication for anger issues may seem like a gamble at No. 11. Ask the Baltimore Ravens how they feel about having drafted a sketchy middle linebacker with character issues in the first round of the 1996 NFL draft.
There were many knocks on Ray Lewis coming out of Miami. There are more on Vontaze Burfict, but the upside is there.
Pairing Burfict, whose violent hits have marked college football for the last two seasons, with the athletic Derrick Johnson would be epic. Romeo Crennel will want to toughen up his defense. This is a way to do it.

Yep
I posted an article a month ago about wanting Burfict. A lot of guys didn’t like the idea though. Offensively we’re pretty stacked if we can re-sign Bowe and if Moeaki and Charles come back full strength. We can address the OL in FA and in later rounds. But I just think Burfict could give KC the toughness we’re sorely missing. That and Berry was very vocal as well.
I don't know...
there are a lot of other holes on the team that seem a lot more pressing. Not that we don’t need that bad ass thumper, we do, but our offense was horrible and our offensive line is in need of a RT, LG, or even an upgrade at LT moving Albert to LG. If we want to stabilize the franchise we got to fix the QB and plug up the holes on the OL or we aren’t going to do shit next year.
Why on earth would we need to replace Albert? He been great at LT this year, even with Cassel pussy footing in the pocket and causing the sacks on himself. There seems to be a good amount of FA guards we could look at this year. RT can be addressed in later rounds. Our offense was hurt after losing Moeaki and Charles. We relied too heavily on Cassel’s arm and that set us up for failure.
Going to be alot of disappointed people when we dont draft an ILB before the mid to late rounds.
Belcher+Siler will be the answer for at least next season.
"Give them nothing! But take from them everything!"
Belcher isn't the answer now
And Siler has gotten similar comparisons too Belcher

Silers an unknown and was slated as the starter before he got injured and has been re-signed.
Im not saying I want either of them starting but I’d bet my hat that the front office and coaching staff won’t put a premium on finding a new player for that position this offseason until they know what they have in Siler.

Siler & Belch are how you begin to build your solid/good depth!
There is a fly in the ointment. The sh*t has hit the fan. The lion will speak.
He's not an unknown
Plenty of film of him is out there, Chargers fans said he’s solid depth but shouldn’t be starting and got pulled on obvious passing downs
Sounds awfully familiar to me

On top of all that he ruptured his Achilles
2/3 of players never return to form and 100% never return to previous form. And his previous form wasn’t all that good to begin with.

If we're going into 2012 with Cassel & Stanzi (possibly Orton)
We sure as hell better build our Defense to be a TOP 5 D in the league!

I played against him in high school
He was as much of an asshole then as he is now. That being said, he’d be a great fit on this team. Romeo would have to keep him in check, but I don’t see halo, DJ, Flowers or Berry letting him get in over his head.
If we’re rolling with cassel/Orton, build our defense, grab a RT in the second, and go for depth everywhere else.

I'm not saying Burfict is or isn't the answer,
but he better have some coverage ability, or at least some promise, to take him before the second round. We already have a bruiser to has developed good chemistry with DJ.
That said, obviously I drool about having the next Ray Lewis.
if rhymes were valiums, i'd be comfortably numb

as much as I would like a psycho ILB I am thinking back a few years when the chiefs played the ravens & T-Rich & Will Shields were all over him. After that game Ray Ray started to bitch & moan about a NT to take the heat off.It was the next year they got H.Ngota.Made Ray very happy & successful.

Defenses need crazy mother fuckers
Draft this man
Standing on the corner in a white Godfather hat. He drives a long black gangster Cadillac. He can steal a broads mind, man, in three or four minutes. It’s not how long you talk, brother, it’s what you put in it.

Intense, yes.
But would we be getting a Ray Lewis or James Harrison type of player? Kid looks like he could go either way.
Does it really matter?

yes
Do we want an MVP caliber player, or a good player who continually gets fined and suspended for illegal hits.
and it's not so much the fines and the suspension
It’s his attitude toward them. He keeps brushing them off like they’re nothing, but he’s jeopardizing other people’s careers.
The talk here in Phoenix is..
They wouldnt touch the kid…he has a lot of talent, but not a lot of brains and motivation….he disappointed a lot of people round here….I hear them talk about him on sports radio all the time….he is not very well liked….the words “waste of talent” are used frequently…
that being said, i dont think he will be a first round selection….so you might be able to gamble on him in rounds 3-4 if he is still around. His stock will drop drastically once NFL teams do their homework on him, trust me.
Clark Hunt and Scott Pioli need to IMPRESS me in 2012....No Settling this year Chiefs Fans!!
Can't teach athletic talent and size

I would be too lazy to reply to this after he’s drafted in the first round. There’s no chance he drops. He’s got way too much talent to pass up due to some character concerns. You can work with him on that. You can’t teach size, speed, instinct and the emotion to lay bitches out.
ok, i guess we'll see come draft day..
