yeah i was juiced when i heard buddy ryan put a bounty on montana

that game was one of my best game being a chief fan. I went through alot of pain in the 80’s watching the chiefs, I wish we would of gotten a hold of montana sooner than we did.

will the chiefs ever draft a Qb in the first round, not since todd blackledge in 83. and the chiefs could of had marino. OH well atleast 65 toss power trap worked for KC, it should be wide open red. Hank stram still the man.

I think I still have that on vhs.

We sacked Moon 9 times in that game and Montana and Allen went hog wild.

montans stood in the pocket, wasn't affraid to take a hit

the was just clutch for kc. Money. The monday night come back againest elway was classic, i was there for that one. I lost my voice for about 2 weeks after that game

Anytime someone says they dont want Peyton Manning here in KC

I like to remind them about the last time the Chiefs won a playoff game and who the QB was….

exactly

2 big moments in my time being a chief fan, the day we hired marty schotteinheimer and the day we got montana. I knew marty would turn the chiefs around, and make the chiefs a playoff contender. I knew montana would make us a super bowl contender. We didn;t get to the super bowl but montana took us the furtheist we have ever gone in the playoffs in a long time.

Which is EXACTLY why, if he is healthy, I want Peyton here next year

With a solid Defense, a better than average recieving core, and the return of Jamal Charles, if you put Peyton at the helm of all that, KC will become instant SB contenders…This team needs a REAL LEADER on the field…Peyton makes everyone better, hides deficiencies(OLINE) and has the best work ethic in the biz….if he is able to be had , Chiefs should stop at nothing to get him….they have the money to do it…

dude i'm with u i want to see it happen with manning

i think its a legit shot, the colts won’t pay 28 mill bonus plus 7 million doller salary, plus shell out some dough for luck

Dont bet on it

Peyton means A LOT to that franchise….they will pay him that money just to keep the fans happy…these NFL teams have shitloads of money, 28 million is not that much to them…

I think if it happens we are gonna have to come up with a sweet deal for em…at least one 1st round pick and another player…at least…they have holes to fill in Indy, they only won 2 games, so they will be intersted in giving Luck some protection and weapons…if they keep em both ,one of them is sitting on the bench not helping the team at all…

by KCinAZ on Jan 7, 2012 3:48 PM CST up reply actions

kcinAZ u realize the colts paid manning 20 mill to sit this season

they will not pay 55 mill total for 2 seasons this seasons and next

by niageriannit1 on Jan 7, 2012 4:03 PM CST up reply actions

do you realize they gave him a 90 million dollar contract

AFTER he already had a neck surgery…it can go either way….im just saying dont be surprised if they keep them both…by keeping Manning and drafting Luck, the team probably makes the playoffs again next year under Manning, Luck can watch the greatest QB of all time for a year and learn, AND by him playing next year and PROVING that he is OK his price tag goes up to trade him the next year…….right now everyone is gunshy because of his neck…if he plays next year, just think what other teams will give in 2013 to get him…

they are in rebuild mode manning knows it

they will try to trade manning or release him.

I hope your right...

but if you let manning go and Luck flops?….then your entire fanbase is PISSED!….

Im just looking at both sides…there is a lot of advantages to them keeping Manning…then again, they can use the draft picks they get for manning to build around Luck….

by KCinAZ on Jan 7, 2012 4:24 PM CST up reply actions

Those here are all about letting Manning go...

They are all about letting everything go right now, and hope for comp picks. Jeff Saturday could be traded away also… Full overall rebuild is ready to go in Indy.

Go Chiefs!!!!

by ravenhawk on Jan 7, 2012 8:42 PM CST up reply actions

AND contracts can be restructured

to accomodate everybody involved. Peyton knows the biz…he knows paying 28 mil to a guy with a neck injury is risky….he may be willing to renegotiate in order to stay in Indy…

Its going to be a tough decision for all involved….I just hope the Chiefs are involved in it…lol

by KCinAZ on Jan 7, 2012 4:20 PM CST up reply actions

or manning might renegotiate to get traded, I got to think one more run at a super bowl means more than the dough for manning

i think the colts window for him is closed, he got a better shot in kc

Only for Montana he blew out his knee late in the season.

Young looked good, and the 49ers let Montana go as they knew Young was the future.

by ravenhawk on Jan 7, 2012 8:44 PM CST up reply actions

we'll see...

i know its not about money to Manning….but it REALLY means a lot to legendary players like manning to play their entire career in one city….so both sides will more than likely bend to accomodate eachother….there is respect on both sides….I may be totally wrong…maybe Peyton is ready to try something else, somewhere else…….shit who knows….but im excited to ee how it plays out…I think The Sherriff would look good in red gold and white!!

by KCinAZ on Jan 7, 2012 4:30 PM CST up reply actions

He's not allowed to renegotiate the bonus payment, now that the Colt's season is over

They have to pay him or release him. Even if he could change the terms, do you think it was any accident that that bonus money was made payable prior to the new league year?

I don’t think the money is a big issue to the owner though…he just recently said that Peyton is THE reason they have a new stadium, and would have no problem at all paying him if it looks like he can play. I think the question though is does Peyton want to spend the last few years of his career playing for a rebuilding team? Virtually all of their star players are either free agents or nearing retirement, so it’s pretty unlikely he’ll make any more superbowl runs in Indy. I think they may cut him lose on Peyton’s request.

im not sure of the contract details..

i heard someone on the radio talking the other day that all of that could be renegotiated…but i dont know the facts, you could be right…I HOPE he wants to move on…I think KC is in a good position to get him if he is available….the teams above us have good starting QBs, and the teams below us are rebuilding and looking for young QBs from the draft to build around, or already have them………

We'd probably become overnight superbowl favorites

If we can keep Bowe and Carr, grab Decastro at #12, grab another RB maybe, and get Manning? You saw what the Colts were like without him, they regressed 8 wins. Replace our mediocre QB who won 7 games with this team with a potential GOAT… you’re talking about an incredible team.

Yeah I loved having Montana here those couple of years, but there’s a big difference between elbow surgery and 3 neck surgeries and hoping for nerve regeneration from those neck surgeries…

by Copperhead Road on Jan 7, 2012 9:23 PM CST up reply actions

I love how people just assume the guy is done...or assume that he isn't worth the risk.
Manning had a procedure called a single level anterior fusion. That involves making an incision at the front of the neck, without cutting any muscles. The disc is removed from the nerve and spinal cord. The surgeon then fills the open disc space with a bone graft. The graft acts as a bridge between the two vertebrae, creating a spinal fusion. Metal plates and screws are often used to hold the bone graft and vertebrae together.

It’s realistic for Manning to come back to playing in eight to 12 weeks, says Dr. Joseph C. Maroon, a neurosurgeon at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and neurosurgeon for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Maroon did not treat Manning, but has operated on five NFL athletes and five professional wrestlers.

“This didn’t ruin his career – it saved it, because it’s going to get him out of pain and stabilize his spine and he should make a full recovery,” Maroon said.

From Here

Also, it was Montana’s throwing arm, in terms of QB’s that is kind of important to being able to play… the similarity is only in being told by everyone that you are done.

Manning didn’t catastrophically break his neck, he had a pinched nerve that has been plaguing him for years, I am just not going to doubt this guy in making a complete recovery.

Read about his injury, there have been lots of athletes that have went through similar procedures. Many of which aren’t getting the level of care Peyton Manning is receiving.

Meh...

It would be a major deal to land Peyton Manning for a couple of years.

I’d be interested to see a Pey Pey Poll. If the Chiefs signed him, would you approve or disapprove?

Montanna was a good example of what can happen. Age aside, Drew Breese did too, and did again tonight.

Is an injury like Peyton’s worth the risk? I don’t know. What I do know is that I would like to see him in red and gold waving his arms and stomping his feet changing the play at the line in KC.

I feel the same way

its alway speculation and assumption around here and through the media…its not like the guy had a Priest Holmes injury…his neck didnt feel right, he had it checked out and they said you got a pinched nerve…not sure exactly why it needed 3 proceedures but, people keep making comments like “one hit and he could be done”…its a PINCHED NERVE, not a broken neck!
