That's great, draft the guy who got hot in his very last game.
Not to mention spending a first rounder to replace a sixth rounder.

I don't hate the pick
depending on what they do in rounds 2-5
But, this is a weird 1st round, overall… lots of guys that I haven’t seen projected that high
He does seem to like his WRs, doesn't he?
Maybe he’s Matt Millen in disguise.

Yeah, I count at least four guys I'd bet money won't go in the first round.
Probably more than that, because five WRs seems like way too many to have in the first.

I saw 2 interesting things
1) He had DeCastro falling to us
2)He didn’t have us taking him
"Whenever I walk, people try to hand me out flyers. And when someone tries to hand me out a flyer, it’s kinda like they’re saying, ‘Here—you throw this away.’"
-Mitch Hedberg
Especially given who they actually mock to us
Let’s see 10 YR best at his position by far player vs. inconsistent lineman. Hmmm, I wonder which way a smart GM would actually go on that one?

3) Jonathan Martin falling out of the 1st
Bleedin Red & Gold... and Purple... since 1992.

I actually like
and could live with this draft. Would be an interesting one to save and look back on come draft time, I could see a lot of these players going to those teams

Nope, rather have DeCastro.
I’m not sold on taking a RT in the top 12. DeCastro could a one-of-a-kind type guard.
Still depends too much on the rest of the offseason and who signs and who re-signs and who walks away.
2012 Chiefs Draft Picks by Falcon58: CB Kirkpatrick/G DeCastro 1st rd, WR Wright/OT Adams or Sanders 2nd rd, QB Foles/ILB Cole 3rd rd, TE M. Williams/RB I. Pead 4th rd, S G. Iloka or DT/NT Hicks 5th rd, RB L. Dunbar or ILB Galippo 6th; FA Signings: NT Poliai or Hill; Resign: Carr, Bowe, Orton, McClain, Gordon, Belcher. Trade Dorsey for picks, promote Gordon to DT/DE.
This is going to be a loooooong offseason
It’s still January and I’m sick of hearing about drafting a guard.
I was sick of the Eric Berry hype 2 years ago but at least he was a dynamic playmaker and the unanimous most talented player in the draft. The DeCastro hype is rediculous. He’s a guard. That’s what rounds 3-7 are for.

What would you think about trading down if we can't get RG3?
I’m starting to think that’s most likely what we’d do. Honestly, I’d ten times rather trade down and get ammo for next year than pick anybody at 11 or 12 this year.

That's where I am.
1) Trade up, get a QB
2) Trade down to bottom of 1st, draft who the hell ever, and get an additional 2nd round pick, and draft Foles perhaps.

We're high enough up, I think we might even be able to get a first next year if we trade down far enough.
And another second next year, too, for our second this year. Bottom of the first and bottom of the second would be good places to get a RT and a guard.
Might be overly optimistic, but Pioli’s gotta earn his paycheck somehow.

There has to be someone sitting there that someone wants to have a market though
It wouldn’t work in this scenario, I was hoping that the Alabama RB would be sitting there at 11/12 and a team who feels they are a RB away, come up and get him. I can’t see anyone on the board in this scenario worth going up to get. Then again, after the combine (aka hype machine) there will be undoubtedly someone who jumps out of the gym and goes from a 3rd round propspect to a top 10 pick.

Cincy's a possibility for your scenario
Holding two 1st rounders, they’ve got a whole lotta room to work with too.
"Why are all these people here? There are too many people on this earth. We need a new plague…"
-Dwight Schrute
Kirkpatrick and Kuechly might be those kind of guys
Anybody at 16 and later that wants Kuechly would definitely have to get past the Eagles for a shot. Just playing devil’s advocate here.
Well, the #12 is worth 1200 points, and the #31 is worth 600.
NE could use a pass rusher and a DE, usually get those near the top of the draft. Hell, they once moved up for an ILB.

You mean Mayo?
I thought they actually moved back for him.
Predictions:

You're right, they moved back from #7.
I’m glad you mentioned that and made me look it up, because that trade is really interesting to look back on considering our situation right now. In 2007, the Pats traded their low first rounder (#28) to the 49ers for the Niners’ fourth rounder and a future first – which turned into a #7 overall. So, I guess you could say the Pats traded up, in a way, across seasons.
That’s pretty interesting to me because I think we should trade one or two of our high picks for future considerations this year, barring some miracle trade up for RG3. It’d be awesome if we could do something like a #28 for a #7 and a fourth rounder. Wow, what a scam that turned out to be! But it did work out for everybody since the Niners got a damned good linemen out of the deal.
So….that year, the comp for swapping current first for future first was a current fourth…..I wonder if we could get a current third or even a second since our first rounder is up in the top 15?

yep
unless there’s someone sitting there who’s far & away better than anyone else. I like a lot of the 2nd round talent this year, my best case would be trading back multiple times in the 1st & ending up with a late first & two additional 2nd rounders.

Other than the QB spot
we need help on the oline pretty bad and Decastro is the best guard, which we need, to come along in a while so I would take him.
Like with Berry, safeties don’t go in the top 5, but he was a can’t miss just like Decastro is a can’t miss.
Men succeed when they realize that their failures are the preparation for their victories.

I like the Wisconsin guys, too. Zeitler and Konz.
We could conceivably trade DeCastro for both those guys.

Adams can be had in the 2nd

Maybe, but probably not at the 11/12 pick in the second round.
That said, I’m not sure I’d want him anyway.

Weird draft
Rams trade back to take Trent Richardson? They need WR’s and offensive linemen.
Only 2 1st rd QB’s…..I doubt that.
Tannehill, Cousins, and Foles could go in 1st if a team falls in love with them. Happens every year.
How long should you try? Until.

i wouldnt mind one of them showing some really good skills in combine and what not
and falling to us in the second. Almost like a andy dalton kinda thing .
Eh I don't think Cousins can rise that far

This is the worst mock I've seen in a while.
The Rams needs Kalil or Blackmon, not an RB who isn’t even an elite prospect and is made by his O-line. And the Browns need a QB, no matter the cost.
And MIKE ADAMS?! Really!? Over DeCastro? Terrible.
by NigerianNightmare on Jan 30, 2012 11:17 AM CST reply actions
Looks more realistic.
I think he’s got Orson Charles too high and Ingram too low. And, I’m just not an Osemele fan.

Would KC picking up Kirkpatrick at 11/12 if they can't move around make sense?
He does have the whole mary jane bust, but he’s still the 2nd best CB in the draft. It would also give them leverage with Carr.
Rather get a CB than a RT.

Would rather have a QB. But I would be good with a RT or G.
CB seems like a luxury pick with cause. I wouldn’t hate it though.
People do see Kirk as a S/CB so maybe its not too far fetched

@ 11 - It better be DeCastro
or Trade down and draft Martin.
