Third Shift Open Thread
I know I'm sounding spoiled compared to many of you but we're starting to have our first really cold weather of the season here in DC and it sucks. Sub twenty degree wind chills aren't that cold but it sure feels like it.
This is your open thread for the evening. Use it to chat about whatever you want.

Ugh!!
I still can’t believe that we were a blocked field goal away from playing in the playoffs, at home, at arrowhead, Vs. The steelers, who we ALMOST BEAT WITH PALKO. Palko! I can’t get over it. Anyone else the same as me??
Is what it is
Frustrating yes, but what’s done is done. All we can do now is hope they get the issues fixed for next season, like we do every year.
And a one in a million botched snap
from being two games out of the playoffs. Shrug.

I'll watch it if it's playoff-type
But I can’t get into these Bowl games. They mean nothing. They’re glorified preseason games. Can’t get into em. Not knockin people that do, just can’t get into it.
Pure entertainment value.
But it does bother me how sloppy some of these teams look because of the long lay off. Playoff games would fix that.

I never would have thought he would have tied for 1st. Figured it would be Mitt and Ron really close for 1st and 2nd. He’s been dead last in polls the whole race. But since he’s the flavor of the week right before the caucus I guess that’s what happens. He’s made it onto the list of the most corrupt politicians last week. This country is so effed.

Yup
I don’t get it. Cuz it seems they keep this cuz of money, but wouldn’t they make even MORE money going the playoff route?
Here's what I think:
1. Get rid of the BCS conferences crap an make each conference equal
2. Get each conference to 12 teams so each can have a conference championship game
3. Conference game winners go to the playoffs
4. Conference game losers go to “BCS” bowls
5. Other bowls games get in where they fit in

Totally wrong. I was a season ticket holder that cancelled when they kept Norv this season and I was 100% ready to get them again when they fired him. Now I not only won’t be going to any Charger games I’m doing some soul searching as to whether I can even support this joke of a franchise anymore. I’m 30+ years in so it’d be a tough bond to break but I’m going to give it a serious effort. I feel like an abused wife by staying with a team who’s owners obviously could give a crap about winning. Either they’re too cheap to risk having to pay out Norv’s contract or they are intentionally trying to alienate their fans to make their move to LA smoother. The BS about "continuity" and him giving them "the best chance to get back to the playoffs" is insulting to loyal fans.

I’d be pissed too. I’d have been ticked for the last 3 years ever since they started underachieving amd squeeking into the post season. But now that they’re consistantly missing the postseason there aren’t that many coaches to be hired. I think the owner is too cheap to take a shot at one of the big boys and there aren’t any glaring candidates available. I feel sorry for SD because they’ve had SB talent and can’t get er did.

One of the writers the other day...
was asking on Twitter why some of us are rooting for Tebow to fail. I told him so that people in the media like him would shut the hell up about him.
Kansas City Chiefs: Undefeated in 2012, baby!
Yep, it's not Tebow, it's the Tebowheads.
And they’re perfectly aware of that.
When you gotta go in the lion's den, you don't go quiet. You go in loud, kick the door down and say WHERE IS THE SONUVABITCH. -B. Billick
If not, they're pretty stupid.
But yeah, I don’t care about Tebow himself one way or another. I just hate the hype with a passion.
Kansas City Chiefs: Undefeated in 2012, baby!
i'm rooting for writers to use common sense
i’ve never seen a mediocre at best QB so fawned over. even with this three game losing streak, they’ve just kind of swept it under the rug; nothing to see here.
And it wouldn't even matter how they won.
50 yards passing, he’d get all the credit.
Kansas City Chiefs: Undefeated in 2012, baby!
Von Miller could break the single game sack record.
But if Tebow overthrew a pass that resulted in PI and set up the winning field goal, it would be his glory day.
3rd and 1...guess we'll run the dime. Eesh.
Their D could return a couple INT's for TD's
Running backs carry the offense while Tebow throws it twice and it’d be all about how Tebow’s miraculous season continues.
Frankly, Stephen A. Smith is just about as annoying.
He tries to be as over the top as Bayless, and it looks so ridiculous, I hate that he’s on my side.
Kansas City Chiefs: Undefeated in 2012, baby!
First Tebow?
No, I didn’t see it. He do a good job with it? I’ve seen a few of ‘em. Sometimes it’s not a great selection for his example, but when it is, I do enjoy them.
And yeah, I probably should be on some film, huh?
3rd and 1...guess we'll run the dime. Eesh.
Yeah, formerly First Take.
Showed our DBs blanketing their receivers, while DJ sealed off the edge, forming a triangle around Tebow. Even while Tebow was being sacked, he marveled that our DBs remained disciplined in their coverage. He said other teams have made the mistake of leaving their guys to help out, allowing him to throw one of his prayers down field.
Kansas City Chiefs: Undefeated in 2012, baby!
Ah. Wasn't a typo.
Got it now.
Well good. Glad others are starting to spot some of those things.
3rd and 1...guess we'll run the dime. Eesh.
How did it take the whole NFL so long to catch on?
I’m still embarrassed for them.

This.
Our front seven has him on lockdown, and those receivers aren’t really good enough to beat our DB’s.
3rd and 1...guess we'll run the dime. Eesh.
He didn't look real comfortable, did he?
What did he have, 8 completions in two full games?
Kansas City Chiefs: Undefeated in 2012, baby!
Not at all.
We’ve definitely got his number. If only the offense could have put up some points, we would have forced him to throw even more.
3rd and 1...guess we'll run the dime. Eesh.
I know, that's really what I wanted to see.
I have think we’d have had at least three or four picks.
Kansas City Chiefs: Undefeated in 2012, baby!
Yup.
But then again, that’s been the truth against a lot of teams this year. Defense isn’t innocent, but they’ve put up some damn good fights only to be let down. Would have been interesting to force a couple more teams to throw on our secondary/drop back against Tamba and Houston.
3rd and 1...guess we'll run the dime. Eesh.
Ill take Flynn if he comes with Clements

I didn't get my VOTW in Friday, so I'll do it here.
As of last Thursday, I can now legally drink alcohol and gamble. Unfortunately car rental companies still don’t think I’m mature enough to do business with, and car insurance companies still think I suck at driving, but at least the government has given me approval to do as I please (as long as I don’t want to smoke pot because that shit’s dangerous).

In more good news
The Raiders are moving Michael Huff to CB before even deciding who their DC is going to be next year. And you thought Haley was bad for meddling in things he shouldnt?

Pretty much took Hue’s post game comments to mean he’s taking over everything and everyone else can deal with it.

I love Hue saying he wants to be involved in picking a GM.
First year head coach with an 8-8 record, who made a terrible trade that will hamstring their future, and he thinks he should have that kind of power. Wow.

So lets take a look at the division.
San Diego- Stuck in mediocrity with an aging team, a GM who can’t draft worth a shit and a coach that can’t keep his team motivated for at least another year. Should set them back at least a couple of seasons.
Oakland- Have Al Davis and Rex Ryan’s love child running the team and he wants to have a say and have his hands in every aspect of the team, this after mortgaging his teams future with stupiud trades. Could set them back a lot of seasons.
Broncos- Have an actual Donkey running the show, who’s now stuck with riding Tebow and using an offense that no other player can run if he gets injured. Setback at least 3-4 years.
Lets hope Pioli checks his ego at the door and gets his shit in order because this division is prime for the picking.
"Give them nothing! But take from them everything!"
you have to imagine
elway is praying for another 6-22 performance from tebow in the playoffs.
all in all, the division is wide open and the chiefs defense might be the best unit in the whole thing.
Where does he go, though?
Brady Quinn? Mortgage his entire future for a QB to draft?
3rd and 1...guess we'll run the dime. Eesh.
i dont know where he'd go
but he’d at least have a chance to try to move on without the fan base burning his house down.
There is no moving away from Tebow without someone's house getting burned to the ground.

That might be the only positive to come from Denver beating Pitt
They’d almost have to stick with Tebow then, even if he has another bad game.
Can’t wait to see our D continue, especially if we can keep Romeo and Carr. Houston’s improvement alone is something to be very excited about.
i think he might have a few marinovich habits
will the chiefs ever draft a Qb in the first round, not since todd blackledge in 83. and the chiefs could of had marino. OH well atleast 65 toss power trap worked for KC, it should be wide open red. Hank stram still the man.

Amazing that Houston
was drafted with the extra pick from moving back in the first round. If Baldwin turns into the beast I think he can, that’s going to turn into a sick trade.
Kansas City Chiefs: Undefeated in 2012, baby!
It could turn into a draft that gave us several key pieces
Baldwin, Hudson, Houston, Bailey, Powe (I have hope for him, misplaced or not).
If Brown, Miller, Stanzi or Bannon turn into even decent depth players, that’s a heck of a draft.
add in last year's draft
berry, mccluster, arenas, asamoah, moeaki, lewis. i’d say he’s done pretty well two years running potentially. make it three years running, and something is brewing.
Nope. He's too egotistical. Fire him.
