Brian Daboll's name is now "hot" on Twitter to take over the offensive play calling helm, let's examine how effective he's been while being an offensive coordinator:
2009 - Cleveland Browns Offensive Coordinator
32nd in total offense (260.2 ypg), 29th in points per game (15.3), -12 turnover differential, 23rd in Time of Possession per game (28:54)
Leading Passer: Brady Quinn - 136/256 (53.1%) 1,339 yards, 8 TDs, 7 INTs
Leading Rusher: Jerome Harrison - 194 carries, 862 yards (4.4 ypc), 5 TDs
Leading Receiver: Mohamed Massaquoi - 34 catches, 624 yards, 3 TDs2010 - Cleveland Browns Offensive Coordinator
29th in total offense (289.7 ypg), 31st in points per game (16.9), -1 turnover differential, 27th in Time of Possession per game (28:21)
Leading Passer: Colt McCoy - 135/222 (60.8%) 1,576 yards, 6 TDs, 9 INTs
Leading Rusher: Peyton Hillis - 270 carries, 1,177 yards (4.4 ypc), 11 TDs
Leading Receiver: Benjamin Watson - 68 catches, 763 yards, 3 TDs2011 - Miami Dolphins Offensive Coordinator
22nd in total offense (317.4 ypg), 20th in points per game (20.6), -6 turnover differential, 10th in Time of Possession per game (30:37)
Leading Passer: Matt Moore - 210/347 (60.5%) 2,497 yards, 16 TDs, 9 INTs
Leading Rusher: Reggie Bush - 216 carries, 1,086 yards (5.0 ypc), 6 TDs
Leading Receiver: Brandon Marshall - 81 catches, 1,214 yards, 6 TDsThese numbers aren't very encouraging if the Chiefs want a big-time offensive coordinator that can turn around a dismal 2011 offense. One could argue that Daboll has had to coordinate some bad offenses in his three seasons, and the stats of the teams he's been apart of have improved, but even the positive signs don't shine much optimism on his potential hire.

Trending? Why?
Because La Canfora said he has as good of a chance as anyone?
Me and Matt Cassel just - you up, dog!
any potential news on a new OC and Chiefs fans are jumping up and down and coming to conclusions
I think people are just desperate to move on from the Muir/Haley offensive era.

Look at the players he had to work with
McCoy, Quinn…no receivers of any note until he got Marshall.
Look what happened when he got halfway decent QB play? His RB’s have always done a decent job.
These guys aren’t magicians. They can’t make a team of average or below average players tear it up with their play calling. If the QB can’t throw, the line can’t block and the receivers can’t catch, it doesn’t matter what you call.
I am really impressed with how the Dolphins performed once Matt Moore took over…and Matt Moore isn’t even that good. He finally got production out of Reggie Bush. The Dolphins won a bunch of games down the stretch. They even kicked the living crap out of the Chiefs with an offensive game plan that made our young, talented defense look terrible.
I think he’s worth a look.

Agreed
His work in Miami is, to me, quite promising. In some ways its unfortunate for that whole team that they didn’t get another year together. That offense seemed like it was starting to “click,” and looked to be headed in the right direction, much like our defense the latter half of the season. The offense is even more impressive if you compare it to the year before under Dan Henning.
I would prefer a bigger name like Hue Jackson…but there are several reasons why he may not be a good idea at all. Even so, I think Daboll would be a solid hire.
His resume scares me although toward the end of the season Miami looked better
just feels like they are saying "I have this great defensive coordinator that will do wonderful, his name is Greg Robinson. Yeah, I know he’s never succeeded anywhere but lets try here as well. I bet he can make a great Def to go along with our awesome offense "

Greg Robinson?
Well that isn’t exactly true, before he came to Kansas City he won two Super Bowls with Denver.
So there is that.
Meh...

Not because of his defenses. Even the Def he had in Denver were terrible.

If we judge him on the Cleveland years
we must judge Romeo equally. And my point is that’s ludicrous. They had nobody. This season Henne goes down and the Rookie Thomas was a dud, yet the Miami offense was surprisingly very effective. Got a lot out of lesser known guys like Hartline and Fasano and Bush resurrected his career.
Not every OC is going to come in here fresh off of a Super Bowl win or record setting offensive numbers.
Is this guy a definite upgrade? Yes.
When mike mccarthy
Was in san fran he ran the 31st ranked offense. I think he’s proven he indeed does know how to run an offense. It’s not always where you rank that determines your ability to do a good job
The only players I hurt with my words are the ones who have an inflated opinion of their ability. I can't worry about that.
