It could have something to do with what was reported here locally in KC by Wright. Haley saying something extremely derogatory to Dwayne Bowe, Pioli hearing about it and telling him he can’t do that, and then Haley continuing to berate Bowe for it.
Not to mention the tanking of games, terrible sideline behavior (I don’t mind fiery, but come on), the weird paranoid rants.
If this is true.
They better be able to prove it, or it’s going to cause them more trouble than it’s worth.

Haley would be an idiot to sign an NDA without a contract guarantee
But who knows if thats part of the contract. Or maybe… maybe the KC Star report broke the NDA he signed and now he won’t get paid. That would at least be reasonable. Right now the Chiefs just look cheap from this news
The only problem with that is...
Haley spoke with babb before he was fired so the NDA wasn’t even around yet. So the “cause” they say would have to likely be something we don’t know about yet.

What other option did Haley have besides Palko? A rookie playing against NE, Pitt, Chi, and the NYJs? Pioli is as much at fault for having Palko on the roster as Haley so I don’t think there is any way they can say he was throwing games by starting him.

If not paying Haley the final year of his contract was a necessary means for us to win a championship, I would obviously support that decision.
But I only see it hurting us. Both in terms of publicity and respect from potential coaching candidates, free agents, etc.

knowing Art Shell was just a 1-year hire, they started their hunt for their next coach in-season and were once again having the same problems. so, they had to overpay a 31-year old to take the job.
Yeah, that was pretty bad.
I think they had a few interviews (Martz, Gilbride…maybe Whisenhunt), but they all left NOT wanting the job. I think they were willing to make Petrino the highest paid coach ever, he wanted nothing to do with them.

My theory
Haley knew he was going to be fired at the end of the season. So he started contacting other teams about his availability, including the Cardinals. Pioli found out about it and approached Haley. Bowe was staying late at the office, finalizing his imports for the Jets game. Luckily, he was there to break up the fight. Haley slung some racist slurs at Bowe. Thomas Jones punched a baby. All in all, it got real ugly.
But how did Pioli find out? They must have tapped Haley’s cell phone, because he made all contacts through a personal line, not a company one. Haley went to Babb in trust, but Pioli already had a bug on him. That was the final straw.

It had started way before Haley. Haley allegedly spoke with Babb the week before the Jets game, but Babb had already conducted numerous interviews with current and former business-side employees about the working environment.

As of right now we know NOTHING and this is all speculation. However I think Nick is saying you can’t use the argument that the Chiefs aren’t paying Haley because the team looked like crap. I think he is insinuating that Pioli is responsible for signing players and Haley was using what he had. In that case Pioli should not receive his paycheck either. Just playing devils advocate.
