First let me start off by saying, Tyson Jackson sucks and is fat ; ) No, no, no that's not what this post is about. Just a little humor to break the ice. If it went over your head, don't worry about it. It was a reference to a post and a night I won't soon forget. I actually think I may have had a minor heart attack from laughing so hard. It was also a night when AP got fried, literally deep fried. If anyone missed it.....yes my AP brethren....... I've got it!
*just email me at: noskitzo@gmail.com
ALL OF IT uncut and uninterrupted,....I think ; ) so all you'll have to do is nuke some popcorn and grab a six...enjoy!
I found this video and it seemed to fit, with all these crazy posts coming out and their authors ; ) Take a moment if you will and see if you can pick out which one is skitzo....I kid, I kid. Let us not forget it was skitzo who once said,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=tLPZmPaHme0
The Creep (feat. Nicki Minaj & John Waters)
Now that we all have been "Creeped" out, please wash your hands and try and follow me through this slippery path of trying to bring football and religion together, "Oh no, is he really going to go there?" you say, well Tebow can, why can't I? anyway humor me and please hear me out.
While surfing a post yesterday I ran into a discussion going on about ideas for a new post, a "good" post. Well this ain't it, but I thought , yea somebody should, because some of the crap coming out is a bit bothersome to say the least. Please realize it is not me who should be doing one of these because I am an Imbecile. I really wanted to be the village idiot but that is taken already, by someone they say is way more qualified than me, so I will wear my little dunce cap with AP pride!
Where was I? oh yea, the discussion. Yes, Ups and MN were talking about doing a post on the importance of the interior of an Offensive Line. Here is upamtn's comment;......yes! your royalties are in the mail, now go wait by the box ; )
something that shows "definitively" (if there can be such a thing) that the interior of an Offensive Line "as a group" is more important than the separate parts thereof
I did ask that question of Kalo and Bewsaf … Kalo was kind enough to drop me a line and say "umm I dunno" … nothing from Bewsaf, might have gotten lose in the shuffle
just seems to me that that "group as a whole" thing makes sense somehow
As soon as he said that, The Threefold Cord thought came to me. Geez, Ups stirring Biblical Scripture, oh no.
"Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken." Ecclesiastes 4:12
http://www.surecord.com/images/about_threefoldcord.jpg
OK, ok, enough religion, but you get the parable, and now... to convert that to football. The three parts to The Threefold Cord is; of course The Center, and his two Guards by his sides. This "wedge" if you will, does, the real grunt work. The Center is the captain, calling all the blocking coverages. Not to mention pass blocking, so the QB can step up into a nice pocket. It will give a QB an extra second or two to check down his receivers. The guards do the pulling and leading for the run game. This of course is the most important part of the running game. Little side note, I believe The Chiefs are a running team ; ) "Yes Masons, we all know what you're saying." Ok then, one question..... what should be the strongest or sharpest part of an Arrowhead? (no pun intended)
So with out further ado .....Ladies and Gentlemen (and you to skitz) of AP, I bring to you The Chiefs, Threefold Cord!
via ts1.mm.bing.net
and to add that "Third" fold, I introduce The Chiefs 2012 first round pick..........G, David DeCastro, Stanford
He is almost as scary as seeing those lips at the bottom of the page...there goes the neighborhood ; )
via guysnfldraftlockerroom.com
Of course I didn't add any data to substantiate the "importance" claim, but hey I'm an Imbecile and at least there are some pretty pictures I've included ; ) I'll leave the technical stuff to those who will, I hope, grace the comment section of this little post. At the very least it's a sheepish way to push DeCastro on everyone, hehe.
The real basis of this post is to create some discussion on the unsung heroes of football, the grunts. Tackles get the $ and the praise for protecting the QB. Yes of course they're important and by no means am I diminishing that fact but ....the tip to that Arrowhead better be sharp! Without it you might as well go to battle with a wet noodle.
*no dolphins were harmed in the making of this post, I did though, happen to pull my groin......don't ask ; )
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Arrowhead Pride's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Arrowhead Pride writers or editors.

How exactly would Decastro be an upgrade over Lilja?
Some scouting reports I read (not all, but some) say that Decastro may struggle with bigger linemen and get driven back. How would that be a definite upgrade to Lilja, who isn’t like he is on his last legs or anything?
And one has to wonder, if Decastro would be ranked as high as he is if this wasn’t such a weak draft class, ala Aaron Curry. Just some food for thought
I'm so overrated, I'm underrated.

Delaney, I think we all realize that Lilja isn't "on his last legs" just yet, but that doesn't mean that a clear upgrade wouldn't be of help
and a lot of us think DeCastro would indeed be a clear upgrade (and after all, Lilja isn’t going to be at his peak for long, and a talent like DeCastro doesn’t come along often)
plus, assuming h e isn’t taken before our pick, DeCastro would be the clear BPA as well … yes, I know we have RT to consider, but the BPA at THAT position (Kalil) is long gone
lastly, my friend, seeing as you consider Carr a “second tier CB” I’m thinking your evaluative skills leave something to be desired, so I’ll go with my research and my instincts on this one and cast my vote for the OG from Stanford

So because you can't grasp that I believe Carr deserves a #2 CB contract from the Chiefs, and nothing more
You correlate that into doubting my evaluation skills? I question your reasoning, ups.

Carr deserves top of the line number two corner money
… He isn’t the best corner in the NFL, but he might just be the best number two corner in the NFL.
That is how I think of Brandon Carr and I hope the Kansas City Chiefs re-sign him.

Agree. He does some things better than Flowers in my opinion.
One of those things isn’t turning his head around and finding the ball, but in his defense he has improved greatly this season in that regard. :)

hi, Mo! 5 minutes!!!
Based on the fact that he outweighs Lilja by about 20 pounds
It would seem likely he wouldn’t struggle as much.
And like you alluded to, there are conflicting reports on his ability to handle bigger players. Some say he’ll be fine. Some say he MIGHT struggle. Two things
1) He had not problem handling a top ranked “big boy” head to head when they played
2) We KNOW Lilja struggles with big guys. It’s undisputed.
So there’s at least a decent shot he’d be better at it.
I love my wife, my kids, and the Chiefs. In that order. Except on game days.

hi, Mo! 5 minutes!!!
how is he an upgrade? read this
David DeCastro
6’5, 310 pounds | Offensive Guard | Stanford
First word: Interior offensive linemen have been getting a lot of attention in recent drafts. We have seen the Pouncey brothers, Mike Iupati, and others drafted in the middle of the first round. Teams are realizing the importance of having a strong interior.
David DeCastro is the real deal and appears to be a sure fire 1st round prospect. He is an above average pass and run blocker. DeCastro is mean, nasty, and wants nothing more than to put defenders on their back. He won’t wow you with this athleticism but he is more than capable. His ability to reach the 2nd level and get out in front of backs is impressive. In the passing game, DeCastro shows a strong base and good balance which allows him to anchor after initial contact. He also has quick feet which help him mirror rushers. His strength, leverage, and nastiness are what makes him a good run blocker It is important to note that he has experience with pro style blocking schemes thanks to Stanford’s offensive scheme.
He does so many things well that it is difficult to find flaws. However, I am not completely sold on his listed height and weight. He appears to be shorter than 6-5 which isn’t a major issue but something to keep an eye on. He also appears to have short arms which could impact his ability to keep defenders off his frame.
Overall, DeCastro is a top notch prospect that has the ability to anchor a NFL offensive line for years. I would be interested to see how he handles center because that would increase his value. He gets off the ball and his hands up quickly which makes a move to center possible.
Bold statement: DeCastro will be selected in the 1st round and the first interior lineman selected
Games viewed: Virginia Tech (‘10), California (’10), USC (‘10), Oregon (’10)
David DeCastro
6’5, 310 pounds | Offensive Guard | Stanford
Notes:
•Castro is a solidly build, barrel chested, offensive guard
•He has great weight distribution with solid base
•His quickness allows him to be an effective down the field blocker (wreaks havoc at the 2nd level)
•Castro is the type of guy you want pulling and leading the charge through the hole
•He has a good natural bend with a powerful lower half that allows him to anchor after contact
•From the eye test, DeCastro appears to be shorter than his listed 6-5 height
•DeCastro explodes off the ball and rolls his hips into the defender creating a powerful jolt
•In pass protection, he is always balanced and keeps his head on a swivel
•He has a great base that makes it difficult for defenders to push him off the line
•His nastiness is very apparent as he is always looking to put defenders on their backs
•DeCastro is a very good run blocker and moves people off the ball with ease
•His heavy hands make it difficult for defenders to disengage from the block
I'm sold
Screw the draft, sign him NAO!!!

For all my non-commitment and need of convincing for Decastro
I really don’t have a better option (barring losing Bowe or Carr).
I’m always looking for the first rounder to fill a glaring need, and fortunately over the last three years (say what you will about Pioli), we really don’t have many glaring holes anymore (save for the obvious and arguably the most important).
I guess im just not used to that, and now I have to find what could use and upgrade. Maybe Lilja could. Maybe Belcher could. NT, yeah.
