Just some thoughts rattling around in my head....!?...-_-.... >><>
What if this guy (Brian Daboll not Mangini) is in fact our next OC? I think I would be okay with it. I mean the dude made Derek Anderson, Chad Pennington and Matt Moore look like they deserved to be starters in the NFL. Also he was able to get the most out of Reggie Bush, who has a very similar skill set to Dexter McCluster, and is utilized much like we should utilize Jamaal Charles. His standing amongst Dolphans is pretty good, he seems well liked.
What I'm more intrigued with though is that this means we will probably take a closer look at some of Miami's free agents. I remember when Pioli and Co. first got here I was really wanting them to bring in Vernon Carey to play RT. He had just come off of an impressive season playing opposite Jake Long, and Miami went and signed him to an extension.Well guess who is a free agent again?
The Main thing that concerns me is that despite Miami's woes at RT Vernon Carey was being used as a guard and even a center. I think that Carey will sign on as a starter no matter where he goes, but it doesn't look like it will be as a tackle again. Carey did well with the time he got on the interior line but there has to be a reason he was playing behind Marc "worst than Barry Richardson" Colombo this season.
Many here will say he could just replace Lilja but I don't think this is going to happen. Lilja will get another season as the Chiefs starter whether we like it or not. Lilja is in a contract year, since Pioli has come to town we have seen huge bursts in production from our players on contract years because Pioli has made the statement that he is willing to pay players who perform like they deserve to be. When it comes down to it, the only position on the O line that is going to get upgraded is RT.
Speaking of RT's. I saw that Mike Mayock has Riley Rieff as his highest rated OT in the draft. This is above Matt Kalil who is supposed to be one of the most ideal OT's to come out in a long time. Pretty bold statement by Mayock right there. I think if Reiff is there for us at 12 we have to take him. Those of you who noticed the 12 instead of 11 I'll explain. In my experience as a Chiefs fan we never get the good break, which means Rieff will probably actually go at #11 while we are picking #12 because we lost the stupid coin toss. Life as a Chiefs fan.
While we're on the topic of the draft I thought this was pretty cool; since Pioli has been in Kansas City he has been solid on 100% of his third round picks, well, depending on how you look at it. I bet everyone and their dog yelled out ALEX MAGEE when they read that first sentence (reading dogs!? What the what?) but bare with me. Since Pioli has come to Kansas City he has made 5 third round picks. They were Alex Magee, Jon Asomoah, Tony Moeaki, Justin Houston, and Allen Bailey. All but Magee currently start for the Kansas City Chiefs.
I can say without much doubt that there aren't many teams in the NFL who have gotten more production out of third round picks than Kansas City has from 2009 to now. Maybe we should just trade all of our picjs into the third and just dominate.
Now back to Magee. The thing is Pioli was able to turn a sixth and Magee into a fifth round pick, which turned into Ricky Stanzi. I'm not saying Stanzi is going to be a starter and blow us all away, but the most important backup on the team is the backup quarterback, even if Stanzi never becomes a starter I'm sure we have a backup for the long haul with Stanzi.

good thoughts!
I agree with the following:
What if this guy (Brian Daboll not Mangini) is in fact our next OC? I think I would be okay with it.
Daboll will be fine, and hopefully will be able to build an offense around the skill players KC has
When it comes down to it, the only position on the O line that is going to get upgraded is RT.
I’ve been saying this for a while, I agree Lilja starts in 2012, with Hudson at C
Ideally, though, the Chiefs draft a G to sit for a year and start in 2013… and of course, get a stud RT, keeping BRich as the swing tackle
stag, you know something we don't? 'fess up, man!
Daboll will be fine, and hopefully will be able to build an offense around the skill players KC has
Mom always liked you best!
Doubt DeCastro would have to sit.....
But, I can see the sense of starting Lilja and grooming a Guard.
It is the Chiefs preferred process

personally think that they dont need to add anyone to the defensive staff.
gibbs is beyond qualified to take a bigger workload with romeo running the show
Pay Brandon Carr/Romeo
Team Colquitt
As we groom players we should also groom coaches
a youngster for Romeo to train in the ways of the Jedi
would I think plan that works

Good thoughts
And thanks for taking the time to provide photos, real descriptions of what you’re thinking, formatting and more than 75 words.
Effort is appreciated!
It's no fun if I have to explain it.
I believe there's a good shot that C is upgraded as well
With Hudson replacing Weigmann. He looked all right (very good for a rook, in fact) when filling in for Lilja.
I love my wife, my kids, and the Chiefs. In that order. Except on game days.

Neither
Just with Hudson taking the place of Weigmann

my bad
I mis-read.
So you are onboard for status quo and upgrade the RT.
you would have a 2nd year rookie Center, a 3rd year RG, and a possibly Rookie RT?

Nah, I was just pointing out the possibility of a natural upgrade coming from Hudson
As far as the line goes, I think it needs to be priority numero uno if they aren’t going after a QB. If they are, then the line becomes priority 1a

I really hope we hit a home-run on the O-line coach
with such a young group the coaching will be all important

big time
it’s a shame we can’t just demote Muir back down to O line coach. When he was there our O line looked pretty good. How do you even go about hiring a position coach!? Where do these people come from haha
There are no stupid questions just stupid people
I was wondering about that too
I doubt googling it would turn up anything worthwhile

Muir
Bill Muir stated he was suprised to hear the “retired” rumors. He also stated he wasnt planning on coming back as OC next year, but was prepared to continue role as O Line coach until he is told differently
interesting stuff there, isn't it?
he’d do great working with David DeCastro :-)
