SportingNews predicted 7-9

before the season. And before the season, I'm not sure too many people thought 7-9 was unreasonable, given that the team was playing a 1st place schedule. And, yet, after all was said and done, this team was the most maddeningly inconsistent team in the league. They began the season as if they were prepared by Herm Edwards (i.e., spotting the rest of the league a 3-game lead), they were incompetent in at least 1 phase of the game during a large middle stretch of the season, and then at the end of the season when the defense played fabulously, the team was among the worst scoring offenses. That they finished 7-9 is rather amazing. If they can get healthy, get a few impact players in the draft and free agency, and get their offensive kinks worked out, I don't see any reason why they can't go deep in the playoffs.

deep in the playoffs… its hard to think those words would ever be in the same sentence.

I guess because he has happened like once in the past 40 years...

I am not sure since I wasnt alive to see the playoff win in 93, but seriously….we need a QB first to make any deep runs.

When you fail to prepare, you prepare to fail.

Jamaal above all. #25 ftw.

CHIEFS WILL!

Cassel will be fine

I’d rather have Cassel than Alex Smith.

I'm with you

There are some major similarities between San Fran and KC, IMO.

In 2009, the 49ers finished 8-8 and missed the playoff, but were considered an up and coming team. In 2010, the Chiefs overachieved finishing 10-6 and made the playoffs, and were considered an up and coming team.

In 2010, expectations were growing in San Fran, and they started the year 0-5 before going on to finish the year 6-10 and change coaches. This year, KC satrts the season 0-3 before finishing 7-9 and changing coaches.

The strength of the 49ers is clearly their Defense, and late this season, it looks as if the Chiefs could be close to having a dominate Defense also.

Hopefully, next year the Chiefs can make it as deep in the playoffs as the 49ers this season.
