Bears Reportedly Nearing Deal With Chiefs' Phil Emery For GM Job

Sounds like the Kansas City Chiefs are about to lose a member of their front office.

Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that the Chicago Bears are closing in on Phil Emery as their next general manager:

The Bears on the verge of hiring Chiefs dir. of college scouting Phil Emery as GM. NFL sources said just a matter now of dotting the i's.

McGinn's got a terrific reputation around the league for these sorts of reports so unfortunately the Chiefs are probably going to end up losing Emery.

He came here in 2009 along with GM Scott Pioli after previously working in Atlanta for the Falcons. He was also an area scout for the Bears before that so he has that Chicago connection.

I hope this doesn't mess with our draft too much.

Congrats to Phil

Spreading that talent scouting system out even more in the league. It’s sad to see him go but it feels good one of our guys was good enough to take on this job.

I hope we pick before them in every round

and he leaves all his draft notes at 1 Arrowhead Drive!

For constantly playing Palko, Haley needs to be fired

I'm sure Phil is ecstatic about

getting out from under the

dictator Scott.

It is time to anoint the Stanzi. He is The One.

The Chiefs don't even know what they are doing come tomorrow

Let alone April – I don’t think even Emery knows what in the hell is going on.

Uhhh...I hate looking at the 1983 Draft and seeing 2 HOF'ers picked after our washed up QB pick.

Figures that the Rams can put together their coaches in 2 weeks

were on 2 months and counting – and we have additional people leaving like rats off of a sinking ship.

Uhhh...I hate looking at the 1983 Draft and seeing 2 HOF'ers picked after our washed up QB pick.

1. The Rams' new OC sucks.

2. Emery is leaving for a much better job. He’s not leaving a sinking ship.

Knock out 2 birds with one stone

1. get promoted (or better job due to point 2, below)
2. no longer get phone calls bugged

Uhhh...I hate looking at the 1983 Draft and seeing 2 HOF'ers picked after our washed up QB pick.

One would think this would actually be a validation of Pioli and our regime: we have guys that other teams covet.

But nope, it’s just one more reasona Pioli sucks…

I love my wife, my kids, and the Chiefs. In that order. Except on game days.

Congratulations!

Unfortunately, Pioli won’t have any more candy wrappers for “teachable moments.” Now Chicago can take advantage of Phil’s candy cravings.

Dear Clark Hunt,

Right when the Bears make their offer to Emery, make an offer 50k higher and put him in Pioli’s spot.

Conclude by firing Pioli and give him and his 21 wins in 3 years a big punch in the face.

If you are wondering, Carl had 31 wins and a playoff win his first 3 years.

His first draft pick was Derrick Thomas, Pioli’s was Tyson Jackson.

Enough said.

jeez people

This isn’t rats leaving a sinking ship. This is a worthy staff member getting a great opportunity. Not only is it a good thing for Phil, bit it reflects positively on the Chiefs organization when other teams look to them for top brass recruits. Congrats to You Phil!
