Big roadblock for lots of reasons

1. Arizona is more attractive than Kansas City…Fitz and sunny weather.
2. Kevin Kolb will be on the trading market. He’ll make it harder to trade Cassel if we choose to do so.
Good Things:
1. Easier to re-sign Orton
2. We could bring in Kolb if we wanted too
3. If instead, the Cards get rid of Skelton, we could have ourselves a solid backup if we wish.

agree manning will come to kc before arizona

If healthy i see a legit shot of manning coming to kc

will the chiefs ever draft a Qb in the first round, not since todd blackledge in 83. and the chiefs could of had marino. OH well atleast 65 toss power trap worked for KC, it should be wide open red. Hank stram still the man.

Yeah, I'm so stupid. Of course Kansas City has better weather then Arizona....

Our 30 degree weather beats the crap out of their 70 degree weather. No question. And of course, the NFC is a conference as hard as nails…and of course, our 7-9 season beats the crap out of their 7-9 season.
I love Kansas City as much as the nexy guy, but seriously kid…it’s a big world out there.

It's Orton Time!

okay go to a warm climate and no shot at a super bowl or

come to kc and have a legit shot at a super bowl. Its all about where the best fit is for manning and he is better off in kc than arizona

will the chiefs ever draft a Qb in the first round, not since todd blackledge in 83. and the chiefs could of had marino. OH well atleast 65 toss power trap worked for KC, it should be wide open red. Hank stram still the man.

I agree, KC has a better shot at making the super bowl.

But, you’ve got admit, where-ever Manning goes, that team will have a legit shot at the Super Bowl. Just look at the Colts.

Arizona could actually be more attractive for three reasons

1. Arizona has something we will never have: An indoor state of the art stadium. Manning has played indoors his whole life, I’m sure this will be a mojor factor in his decision

2. Arizona has a proven offensive mind. Manning won’t have to answer to some hot shot young up and comer OC, which Kansas City is apparently looking for. Ken Whisenhunt has had a long respected career as an offensive mind in the NFL, he left the reins very loose on Warner and he succeeded with it. I’m sure he’ll be able to find the same success with Manning

3. Arizona has Larry Fitzgerald. We are at a risk of losing Dwayne Bowe this season and the only sure thing after Bowe is Steve Breaston who should not be a #1 WR ever. Fitzgerald on the other hand is locked in for the long run in Arizona. Manning will have one of the best WR’s to ever play the game as a target for the rest of his 2-3 year career

There are no stupid questions just stupid people

by IPWT2009 on Jan 22, 2012 4:10 PM CST up reply actions

KC could be more attractive in these three reasons

1. Much better defense than Arizona, KC had Berry and Siler out the entire year.

2. Manning is a proven offensive mind, therefore won’t allow our Offensive Coordinator to have shoddy gameplanning not to mention Manning audibles alot.

3. We have Jamaal Charles, arguably the best RB in the league. As an opposing D do you stop an aerial attack with Manning, Baldwin, Breaston, Moeaki, McCluster, and Bowe if he stays. Or do you not stack the box against Jamaal Charles who makes the D look like a high school defense more than any other player in this league.

Not really

If Peyton Manning does anything. He will probably retire.
He doesn’t wanna play for any other team.

manning still wants to play if his body will let him

He not ready to hang it up yet

brett farve never wanted to play for another team either

but the urge to just play no matter what over came that (money had a little to do with it as well obviously) and it will be the same for peyton…they are born athletes and winners its in their blood

Arizona sucks though

Why go to a half ass team?

For constantly playing Palko, Haley needs to be fired

CHIEFS! Represent from AZ!

by pecora55 on Jan 22, 2012 3:38 PM CST up reply actions

Chiefs

lost Charles, Berry, Moeaki, and Siler. Despite starting Cassel and Palko for 13 games, we managed a 7-9 record. Manning, one of the most intelligent players in the NFL, knows that the Chiefs could be a superbowl contender with a QB. It would be a long shot for us to get him, but Manning definitely does not believe Cardinals have a better team than the Chiefs.

by andrew33 on Jan 22, 2012 3:45 PM CST up reply actions

Chiefs make more sense

We don’t have a powerhouse in the AFC west. The NFC west has the 49ers. Cards do have Fitz, but the Chiefs have more weapons, including Charles. If Manning objectively looks at both rosters he will see the Chiefs have more talent. Who is Arizona’s great pass rusher? Oh, and their OTs suck. Our line needs work, but it will be much easier to fix than the Cards. Only thing they have an advantage over is the weather. But, Manning isn’t some pussy who doesn ’t want to play in cold weather, he wants to win. I think he will see Arrowhead as a plus and will value our homefield advantage.

Agree, but I'm not worried about Manning's choice...

I would be more worried about if the Chiefs would pull the trigger on signing him. I just don’t see them making this move if he is available.

by jsChiefs23 on Jan 22, 2012 2:32 PM CST up reply actions

If Manning is available and healthy...

the Chiefs would be the dumbest franchise in the NFL. I can’t see them being that stupid because we can afford him even with our budget. I think it comes down to his neck, which is probably 50/50 at best for his nerves to regenerate.

by Crown Chief on Jan 22, 2012 5:29 PM CST up reply actions

I agree.

Jamaal Charles and the D alone makes it much smarter to go to KC. Charles in the backfield and Manning under center… Do you play the Pass or the Run?

by andrew33 on Jan 22, 2012 2:43 PM CST up reply actions

Aka

Do you want to test one of the best QBs in the history of the NFL or arguably the best RB in the league right now? (Assuming they are healthy of course).

by andrew33 on Jan 22, 2012 2:44 PM CST up reply actions

Cardinals also wanted Kevin Kolb. Look how that turned out.

You can't compare Kolb to Manning, even in Manning's current state.

The path to the Super Bowl would be a lot easier in the NFC West, and even though Arizona doesn’t have the roster that KC does with or without Bowe, Carr, etc., they’d have a much easier division, and it wouldn’t shock me at all (if he went) if he did some sort of Warner transformation for the franchise.

by MontpikeMike on Jan 22, 2012 3:45 PM CST up reply actions

The path to the Super Bowl is easier in the NFC north?

It might have the defending Super Bowl champions in it next year. With the Steelers getting old, you have to see the AFC as the weaker conference. Two of the 3 power houses, have Scaub and Flacco at QB. I would take that over Rodgers, Brees, and Eli. I think he would want to stay in the AFC.

I seriously do NOT want Manning ... absurdly expensive, only has a couple of good years left. and the whole neck thing leaves me feeling very uncomfortable

we’d be putting all of our eggs in one basket, so to speak … and if the guy is hit wrong he’s done forever

is he better than Cassel? of course … better than Orton as well, but look: if we did get him, how much do we have left to sign Bowe, Carr, McClain and the rest of our FA’s … not to mention any OTHER free agents we might like

you think Nicks is gonna be expensive, Manning will command a HUGE salary, to put it mildly … and even then no guarantees of anything

It would be cool to see Manning in a Chiefs uniform. But you're right...

…he’s gonna command a HUGE contract and that neck injury makes me nervous.

He wont cost THAT much..

If Manning signs with another team, it will be for THE LOVE OF THE GAME….not money..Dude is loaded. Chiefs are waaay below the salary cap and could make it work…If you lose Bowe or Carr in order to fill THE MOST IMPORTANT POSITION on the field, so be it…No team, including the Chiefs, are going to pull the trigger on a deal for Manning without making sure he is healthy enough to play at a high level…these are multimillion dollar deals, they do not just go into them without thorough investigation.

Bringing in Manning makes KC more attractive to FAs also.

And Last….at this point, I dont care what happens after Manning is gone. Ive been waiting for a SB win for 40 years. If he is healthy, he gives us the best chance to win. He has weapons here, a defense, and a run game. If he is available, and KC does not investigate bringing him here, then it will show me that it is REALLY NOT about winning a championship to the owners…as fans, we should not allow them to get away with that shit…

IF he's healthy...and IF the Colts release...

then I wouldn’t be opposed. But those are two big IFs.

if he wants a good team, he will go here.
