Friday Night Open Thread

DENVER, CO - JANUARY 01: Running back Thomas Jones #20 of the Kansas City Chiefs rushes against the defense of Jonathan Wilhite #29 of the Denver Broncos at Sports Authority Field at Mile High on January 1, 2012 in Denver, Colorado. (Photo by Doug Pensinger/Getty Images)

We're down to one of our last Fridays with NFL football on the horizon. The AFC and NFC Championship games are on Sunday and then the Super Bowl is two weeks after that. Football is almost over.

And now we're to the victory of the week. Make sure you give us your victory of the week in the comments.

My victory of the week is an easy one - a friend went through surgery on Monday and it was a success. Gotta be happy with that. What's your victory of the week?

VOTW

Well, I found this drunk LSU fan and decided to unzip my pants and….

wait, that wasn’t me.

To make a bad day worse, spend it wishing for the impossible.

I've had the same dream every night this week. I think it means that the spring season flopped and my subconscious has gone into reruns.

VOTW....

Consumed 2 bottles of single malt scotch and around 12 cigars….still have another bottle to get through tomorrow.

Wait a second here.

So your friday night consists of two bottles of single malt, a bunch of good cigars, and skyrim all night?

Go ahead and email me the address, I’ll hop on the next flight outta LAX.

That makes more sense. 12 cigars and 2 bottles of single malt in a single night would be quite the challenge for one person

Interesting side note, I find that certain alcohols make great character names on Skyrim. I’m thinking when I give the game a second play through, I’ll create a Altmer named Laphroaig (currently rocking an Imperial name Gulden Draak, such a great belgian beer).

Not bad idea

I usually drink rum with my cigars now

ever since Jake at the Occidental Cigar Bar in San Francisco turned me onto it.

Me: what kind of single malts do you have?
Jake: You gonna smoke a cigar?
Me: Uh yeah. duh – this is a cigar bar
Jake: Lemme ask you a question – do they grow any tobacco in Scotland
Me: Uh. no.
Jake: Where’s the best cigar leaf grown?
Me: Cuba?
Jake: Right. do they may any scotch there?
Me: I doubt it
Jake: What is the primary achohol in Cuba?
Me: Rum?
Jake: Right – why don’t try some Rum tonite then?

he set me up with 4 different shots and I’ve hooked ever since. I like the sweetness of Pyrat XO Reserve, and at $35 a bottle it’s way cheaper than Macallan Scotch.

He tore his rotator cuff last month and they just now are getting this all done. In the process they a.) tore his bicep tendon losing the tendon into his arm, or b.) the bicep tendon was already torn when he fell.

Anyways he got out of surgery at 12:30 your time, and seems to be doing alright… This is the second time that he has had this done(opposite shoulder, and bicep) in the past couple years.

VOTW - Just eFiled my 2011 Taxes

All of the college financial aid stuff for my college bound daughter is due this month and they all require tax return info. The good news is I’m done; the better news is we’re getting a little money back; the best news is we’re also done the the 18 page financial aid forms (in really poorly written html I might add – they really need to hire some code slingers to clean up the mess).

I really would love to see him.

But I just don’t see it. Unless he thinks Romeo can produce with what he has. I know we have weapons on offense for him to play with, but I think Peyton would want to see the whole picture. I know we are close, as a fan, but I am not sure Peyton would see us that way. Remember the Eli draft thing? Who knows what the manning clan thinks of the chiefs.

Why not?

As far as the whole picture goes, we have a really nice up and coming defense. On offense, we have some great weapons for him to work with. Plus we have money to pay him appropriately. It’s not like the entire thing would be on him. I’d think that would be pretty damn sexy.

I don't know

I just can’t see it. Maybe I am just too pessimistic. I remember the whole Eli situation, and I got the feeling that Archie. And the family have a lot to do with what happens in that clan. I can’t say exactly why I think feel like this. But I just can’t see him coming. Plus, Peyton only runs one offense, the old Minnesota gophers offense, slash bills offense. Who’s to say that our personnel fits what he thinks he would need to run that offense. And who’s to say the chiefs want to run that offense. Don’t know just saying.

If the chiefs got manning don't u think bowe would want to come back to kc

bowe would have a legit qb to get him the ball. all thought orton i think will do a decent job.

will the chiefs ever draft a Qb in the first round, not since todd blackledge in 83. and the chiefs could of had marino. OH well atleast 65 toss power trap worked for KC, it should be wide open red. Hank stram still the man.

Hells yes!

I think if Orton came back that would be enough for Bowe.

How nice would it be to see the chiefs up 21 to start the 4th quarter

instead of having your heart in your stomach every week in the 4th quarter; Manning brings fire power to the offense. Instead of relying on the de to win the offense can win games by themselves.
