Your Daily Kansas City Chiefs Coordinator Update

Recently, NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reported via league sources that Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Bill Muir was "likely" to retire.

It's now been three weeks since La Canfora's report and there has not been any other news on the status of Muir. He's still on the coaching staff, as far as I know. At least the Chiefs haven't made any announcements about his status.

The KC Star's Adam Teicher told Bob Fescoe and Josh Klingler on 610 Sports Friday morning that he would be surprised if Muir was the Chiefs coordinator next season.

"I'd be surprised, certainly, if he were part of the staff of coordinators at least," Teicher said. "That would really surprise me. I think they're definitely going to be going outside to find their coordinator. Will he be part of the staff? I doubt it. But it's certainly possible."

Romeo Crennel and the Chiefs coaching staff spent part of this week dealing with the East-West Shrine game on Saturday and they'll be en route to Mobile, Alabama for the Senior Bowl next week. I suspect they'll be interviewing guys there and keeping an eye on which teams are eliminated from the playoffs this weekend if they have a target there as well.

Madden playbook is bigger and better

Tecmo Bowl playbook was like Haleys playbook, that’s why everyone figured it out.

Hey, no matter what play you call....

Jamaal Charles can take it to the hourse in Tecmo 2012! (Though he tends to fumble)

Adrian Petersen is the new Bo Jackson in that game.

Funny enough, they have McClain as our 2nd RB and he is like a baby Okoye! Only like a 92 for hitting power instead of 99.

I don’t think running backwards and setting up the 100+ yard hail mary is a very reliable offense….

WHAT?

What about having Bo Jackson run backward to the 1 yard line, then break about 30 tackles going 99 yards for the TD? Surely that works

Kevin Gilbride

Huge talent. I believe he’ll leave if the Giants lose this weekend. Offense always in the top 10. Yes the same guy that got puched by Buddy Ryan.

True

IDK I guess I just feel that the longer it takes, the more were just settling for less… could be a playoff team though.

I don't have a problem with Muir.

I think he’s been a good coach, right along. I’m not sure why people are so down on the guy, other than he’s old. He’s never had all that much authority, the times he was called an OC. Chucky controlled the playcalling, as did Haley.

imo, romeo was always the hire, hence bringing in who they did for interviews

once they locked him down, they went out and picked their top OC candidate, have most likely contacted him, and have a verbal deal in place. illegal, sure, but i think they already have someone, just not officially

wish i knew who it was, but with the del rio head coach interview(4-3 D), im not so sure i want to know who they think can run the offense

Anyone but Muir

I think if we replace Muir, we will be ahead of the game. But like all the other post who is there to choose from. Al Saunders would be good but I don’t think he’ll come back after how we let him go years back. Plus I think he has lost a step as a coordinator. One name that nobody has mentioned is Kevin Gilbride. Current OC of the NY Giants. I think he is in the last year of contract. If they lose against the niners this week, he becomes a scap goat and may leave as he has been there for 5 + years. He has always been an ofensive mind and has taught E Manning well since his early years. He is always ridiculed in the NY media and he may want to leave for greener pastures. KC has the pieces on offense and he can take credit for their future success if they win. KC must up his pay however to at least get him to listen.

He was AWFUL at A&M

Had probably the best running game in the B12, hands down…and never used it. EVER. He would be shredding people on the ground and then, amazingly, he’d start flinging it around the yard, get picked, other team scores, now down 10 pts, time to throw 50 times!

Cyrus Gray and Christine Michael were amazing backs and the the freshman behind them was good too. They would rip off 200 yards rushing very easily, but Sherman seemed unwilling to commit to the run.

No thanks on Sherman. Pass.

OC or bust

The Chiefs need to move on this quickly for two big reasons. First getting the new offense installed and therefore knowing how to draft. Second the list of talent is thinning. I really like Daboll and he has the necessary pedigree along with the fact that he is still young.
