they always grade Lilja pretty well
maybe the fans’ eye overstates the struggles Lilja/Weigmann had???
From what I saw, both guys generally got the job done… though clearly not in dominating fashion…
I would guess that: Casey retires, Hudson starts at C, and Lilja returns for one more year as the starting LG, while a rookie develops behind him
gotta agree with this
I think liljas play will get better with a new/better center next to him. They should replace right tackle this year then left guard next. we’d have a young/fresh O-line for years
Leads me to believe that DeCastro is out of the picture
Which is fine with me, I’d rather take an OG with lots of upside in the 2nd or 3rd & let him sit for a season or two learning. Lilja is only 30 & if his play really hasn’t dropped off he could play for several more seasons. I’d rather have a bigger player there though…
We’re in a great position to trade back, with Richardson, Kirkpatrick & DeCastro all potentially being on the board when we’re up.
Predictions:
I'm going to stop predicting positive things
Im all for the trade back.
Go down into the 20’s, still get a quality player there and pick up an extra 2nd and a 3rd.
Do we go fetal and beg for mercy? Or do we pick up that broken piece of pipe laying on the ground and come up swinging? I choose pipe.

Trading back could work
Needs for 2012:
O-line
D-line
Linebacker
Quarterback

Wiggs and lilja
Are much better zone blocking/ pulling guard,s than man on man ,move the pile type players. They just don’t have the size and strength to push guys back

Pretty sad
“Two of the worst three graded tackles in the league, Jeromey Clary and Barry Richardson, ply their trade in the AFC West.”
Think it’s time to finally adress that RT spot. I cannot watch another season with play like that of Richardson. Better than Sackintosh is still miserably inadequate.
Maybe he wasn't losing as much as we thought...
Could Weigmann have been that bad to make the entire interior look worse?
I love my wife, my kids, and the Chiefs. In that order. Except on game days.

The entire interior o-line didn't look bad
Asamoah looked downright dominating at times

I guess I saw it differently
The line got us no push and was (besides Albert and at times Asamoah) pretty lousy at run blocking.

Weigmann wasn’t the one making others look bad…
"Hater" is a term used by weak-minded people in the face of legitimate criticism.
Who would you say it was?
PFF may not be perfect, but they generally don’t get things completely wrong…

Lilja's good on the second level, which is a kinda rare skill.
But he’s not very good on the LoS.
When you gotta go in the lion's den, you don't go quiet. You go in loud, kick the door down and say WHERE IS THE SONUVABITCH. -B. Billick
That likely raised his score with PFF

still, Albert did better at his position than Lilja did at his
hence the >.
D-Bowe says: "THAT'S MY BIKE, PUNK!!!!"
my point is is that Albert should have made the list before Lilja.
D-Bowe says: "THAT'S MY BIKE, PUNK!!!!"
and that you can make a better case for Albert over the other starting LTs in the division
than you can for Lilja over the other starting LGs in the division.
D-Bowe says: "THAT'S MY BIKE, PUNK!!!!"
It is more about the fact that the OG's in the AFC West
sucked this year. The LT position was actually pretty good all around.
What a year! At least we have the Royals... Oh Wait!
Thats what I'm thinking.
Get ready for another season of 3 and outs…if we cant convert on short yardage, especially with Cassel at the helm. That will also eventually take its toll on the D, when they’re on the field too much. I hope the powers that be, know the domino effect…get a stud guard to immediately upgrade the interior Oline (Hudson at center) and an upgrade at RT and be done with it already. DAMN, WTF???
I gotta believe if Cassel is Pioli's boy
he’d give him a real shot at succeeding. I guess we’ll see what happens in FA and the draft, remember everybody else will be looking to improve as well. 1 game separated the AFC West, and they’re only a couple players away from being better too.
Kind of a dumb question .
But when do teams really start signing free agents ? Around march ?
by chiefsman! on Jan 20, 2012 11:13 AM CST via mobile reply actions
*There are no free agents until then.
So yeah, sometime in March, though you can sign your own right now.
*Except those not under contract at the end of the season.
Thanks !
So would Bowe and Carr quilify as being able to sign now ? Or maybe they waiting for free agency to see if they get Higher offers ?

That's what happens when your team finishes in last place
I can’t against any of the names on the list and they did mention that Brandon Albert came very close to making the list at LT.
by Chiefs4Life on Jan 20, 2012 11:52 AM CST up reply actions
Albert doesn't crack another team.
Albert graded out as a top 5 LT this year and far better then Veldeer so this is a weird choice.
"Give them nothing! But take from them everything!"
Their argument is that he may have higher potential
but was inconsistent this year. If they were going to grade on future potential, you’d think that would count against the 33 year old Champ Bailey.
If I were to put together the best team to represent the AFC West in a game right now, I’d probably use Albert at LT and Bailey at CB. If I were to put together a team to represent the AFC West going into next season, Albert may have a hard time holding his spot and Bailey would probably lose his (to Carr since I’m a homer).
The funny thing to me is that despite the high ratings Albert gets at LT, there are still a number of people on AP that want to move him to LG because they don’t think he’s good enough.
Well it is his natural position
still a number of people on AP that want to move him to LG
Men succeed when they realize that their failures are the preparation for their victories.
Hammerfisting my own balls since 2006
Asamoah > Lilja
Other than that I thought the list was pretty accurate.
Exactly what I've been saying about Lilja
Better than most fans lead on, dragged down by Wiegmann, transitioning back to a position he did not play the year before. No need for an instant upgrade at OG, and definitely no need to use a first round pick on one
I'm so overrated, I'm underrated.
