A Tale of Two Cities

I am sitting here and wondering, "Why the hell are the Chiefs not getting their staff hired?"

I then look down and realize that I am a fan of a second team. Being a fan of two teams gives a person the chance to compare and contrast the two. Although I pity people who are fans of the Browns and Lions (until recently).

My second team, like the Chiefs, have fired their head coach and starting from scratch. The difference is that they already have a nice chunk of their new staff done.

After the jump I will go into details and my reactions.

I am of course talking about the Jacksonville Jaguars.

In late November, they finally cut ties with Jack Del Rio after 9 years. The very same day it was announced that Wayne Weaver was selling the company to Shahid Khan *insert Kirk screaming here*.

Change was coming and the moment the season ended, GM Gene Smith and the new Owner Shahid Khan took care of business by interviewing candidates.

Eventually they settled on Atlanta Falcons OC Mike Mularkey.

Next up was the retaining of DC Mel Tucker and the signing of Atlanta Falcons QB Coach Bob Bartowski.

Now at the time of this writing, they have their TE Coach, QB Coach, WR Coach, RB Coach, DL Coach, Secondary Coach, ST Coordinator among others.

While I understand that the Chiefs are closer, the fact that they have yet to name even the Defensive Coordinator is insane. They have two guys on their staff that fit the bill (Thomas and Gibbs) and they interviewed a potential HC candidate that would be a phenomenal DC (former Jaguars HC Jack Del Rio).

This maybe me overreacting to the no news period but the fact that a franchise that changed owners has 90% of their offensive staff shored up baffles me.

For all the connections Pioli has, he sure as hell ain't using them. The Falcons GM is your best friend, the former Dolphins Executive of Football Operations is your damn father in law.

You cannot tell me that there is not a few people on those staffs that are connected to said people. Give me a damn break.

You have two big Free Agents to do something with and a new staff that needs to be stocked. Throw in the whole scandal and this beginning to be too much.

I am the ForeverRanger and this is it.
