Around SBN: Ryder Hesjedal Wins Giro d'Italia

Okay. Now onto Flynn. Imagine the value of a 26-year-old unrestricted free agent quarterback in a market with four quarterback-needy teams (Indianapolis, Miami, Washington, Seattle and maybe Cleveland) who won't all be able to move up to get one of the two quarterbacks expected to go very high in the draft -- Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III. That brings us to Flynn. He'll either be a free agent and get to choose whatever team he wants, or have the franchise tag put on him by the Packers and be traded in March or April to the team that likes him the most. My early money's on Washington or Seattle. The Redskins have to have a quarterback if Mike Shanahan is going to have any chance to win, and Seattle GM John Schneider worked for the Pack when Flynn was drafted by Green Bay. But we'll see.

resign Carr, Bowe, McClain, and Orton before considering to sign Flynn up

Yes, I agree.

BUT, we could do the above and then cut Cassel and sign Flynn. Let Orton and Flynn fight it out and concentrate on the OLine in the draft.

Let's see.. the last 2 back up QBs who had decent games then were tag'd and traded...

Cassel.. Hmm
Kolb.. Hmm

Cassel.. Hmm
Kolb.. HmmNot sold on a guy who steps into a SB defending team with one of the best WR corps on a defense that has not been able to really shut down teams this year and left its offense in many shootouts.

Not sure why it double posted Cassel and Kolb

I see us fixing the Oline this year, adding depth, hopefully keeping Orton. Then going after a QB early in the draft next year

He almost beat the Pats last year. And this was a huge game for Detroit. Both QBs put up huge numbers.

Pats defense was in decline

Lions have been giving up a lot of scores on D which leads to the shootouts.. he didn’t face a top defense against the Pats or Lions.. not sold on him

someone will be…Who was sold on Trent Green? I think he performed well for us. Sure for every Green, there’s a Kolb, Cassel, etc etc. Doesn’t mean that you have to stop trying. We need a young QB, period.

Like I said yesterday

That game just makes me think less of Rodgers. Looks like the system over there in GB is gonna keep churning them out. Like the Eagles have been doing the past 10 years

by RamX21 on Jan 2, 2012 9:54 AM CST reply actions

Confirmed for me that Brees or Brady are the MVP this year.

Rodgers shouldn’t even be in the discussion.

I think Flynn would be icing if we get our free agents signed - including Orton

Uhhh...I hate looking at the 1983 Draft and seeing 2 HOF'ers picked after our washed up QB pick.

Would rather have Manning, even if it was only for 2 years

I’m not sold on Flynn at all.

Nicknames I have coined:

Jamaal Charles = 'Haley's Comet'
Shaun Smith = 'Big Nasty'
Kelly Gregg = 'Old Gregg'

I'm coming around to Manning more & more

We can have him, get rid of Cassel, forget about Orton and let Stanzi and maybe a second or 3rd round guy learn from Manning and take over in 2 or 3 years.

He put up big numbers, but didn't look very good doing it IMO

Threw several ducks as well. No thanks.

Predictions:
I'm going to stop predicting positive things

Agreed, watched him throw and wasn't impressed

Don’t like his release.
