"I wonder if blood and water came out"
Yes and no. Yes it came out, but when it dripped into the chalise it turned to wine.
Big Gulps EH????? All right.....Welp....See Ya Later!
I'm sorry but this is a site for football...
Those comments are very inappropriate. I know there’s the freedom of speech and you have the legal right to say what you want, but it still doesn’t make it right to do that. I am a die-hard Chiefs fan and always will be, but Tebow never put himself as Jesus on any level. And to make his beliefs as a sick joke like that is very disturbing. Apparently we have not moved on from the racism of the 50’s or the religious hatred that came about from 9/11. Knock him for his game, his throwing accuracy, or that he feels compelled to run almost every time the ball is given to him…but knocking a man for his beliefs is not called for. Again, I understand the freedom of speech, but it doesn’t make it right. Maybe you guys should watch Bambi again and take a note from Thumper…if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all. This makes me hurt for Chiefs fans everywhere that we’re reduced to making fun of a man for his beliefs because he plays on a rival team…how far have we fallen.

Really?
1. Its a joke
2. Racism? You really compared that to Racism? Serioulsy? That’s almost a bigger joke than the others on here?
3. When was the last time Christianity was legitimately under attack in this country? Ever? Most prominent religion in the country. Our freaking motto was changed to be “In God we Trust”, never had a non-christian president and only a few congressmen. News flash, Christianity hasn’t been suppressed or under attack in 100’s of years, so you can probably relax a little.
4. Not sure a religion can talk about being oppressive or closed-minded
5. It’s an overall reaction to what the media has created in this kid.
6. Oh yeah, it’s a joke! There are so many more disturbing things in the world, worry about those first and try not to chastize and judge people, not sure thats very christian.
By the way, Tebow does suck. Also, glad he’s such a great christian, but sick of hearing about that too. He does a ton of charity stuff, lets hear about that more instead. Wonder what christians would do if he was a muslim and got the same amount of press.

A 6 point justification of playground like fun-poking.
I mean look, a joke is all fun and good, but there’s also joke decorum that should be followed, and making fun of aspects of Christianity can be considered as blasphemous by some. Yeah, you have the freedom to do it, but don’t be surprised when someone takes offense at it.
I take offense to your offense of my offense to his offense
I also find all of the offense in my subject line very offensive. I wish the Chiefs had an offense that was as offensive as the Packers offense and not as offensive as the Bucs offense. I once built a fence that no one found offensive which hurt my feelings.
I don’t know if there really is a joke decorum. The best comedians always push those boundaries. No matter what you do, you will find someone who will take offense to everything. Why did the Chicken cross the road, well that is offensive to chickens and the complete mistreatment of chickens.
There are certain lines that will never and should never be crossed (Child rape, just never funny and those people should be hurt) but nearly everything else is fair game and unless it’s mean spirited we should keep an open mind. If it is mean-spirited then those people get ripped mercilessly. You aren’t putting a KKK member doing stand-up at the Apollo but Lisa Lampanelli or Chris Rock making race jokes is fine.

If you don't think there's decorum
then try finding a white comedian that will tell a racially charged joke.
And just because things do happen doesn’t mean they should.
And you did just point out things that shouldn’t be made fun of. You really think the God of the universe should be made fun of? If you do, you can I guess, but like I said, some will take offense to that.
Who's making fun of "God of the Universe"?
That’s a pretty lofty claim for Tebow, don’t ya think?

No
I’m not (nor have I seen anyone) “poking fun at his God.” That would require making jokes at the expense of God, saying mean things about God, like “Did you hear the one about God and Vishnu walking into a bar?”. That is decidedly NOT what is happening here. I’m playing around with the dominant discourse that Tim Tebow himself feeds. I’m sure he’s a great guy, and I know he does a lot of great things (his charity work is incredible and laudable), but neither he nor the way he (and the media) injects his religion into the narrative are off limits.

Ok
Lisa Lampanelli. There ya go, a white comedian that tells nothing but racially charged jokes and all races love her and there are a lot more. In comedy it’s not always what you say but how you say it.
As for poking fun at God. um ok. First, if there is anyone who can take a joke, God is probably the one who can. I doubt God is sitting up there with his feelings hurt over any joke us silly little mortals can dish out. That means the only ones that care, are us silly little mortals. Second, there are plenty of comedians who do just that and many of them are christians. Third, don’t see christians getting upset when people start making fun of other religions. Feel free to make fun of the mormons, scientologists, athiests, and muslims but don’t make fun of my god. People take this whole religion thing way to seriously. Last time I took an invisible friend this seriously I was 5.

So doesn that mean
we can no longer call Elway “horseface” because it has nothing to do with football? Or say “Dirty” Sanchez? Or say anything to the Raiders? My point…..Relax man. It’s a joke, meant to bring a smile on a topic that has been beat to death. It made fun of religion in this instance, you never said anything about any other joke. Why now?

Wow.
First, I’d like to point you to this article before you get so upset about jokes like this.
To make like, to poke fun, and tell some jokes is FAR from “bashing” or “hating.”
Second, Tim Tebow doesn’t leave his beliefs out of it, so why should anyone else? He and his family are creating a cottage industry around him and his beliefs, and ESPN and the rest of the media have swallowed it wholesale (and are themselves making TONS of money off of it). It’s fair game, and its all in good fun. To act like religion is off topic when it comes to Tim Tebow is just not correct, because he actively and consciously injects his piety into his football playing. It’s a deliberate move on his part, which he is totally free to do. However, that opens him up to some jabs and honest critique…and to try and forbid such things is intellectually dishonest. If you want to bemoan people talking about Tebow’s faith, then you better start by bemoaning him for making it such an obvious part of his athlete persona.
To go a bit further…I never said anything negative about Christianity (I’m a committed Christian after all). I never said anything negative about Tebow’s faith (though in another discussion, we could discuss the pros and cons of his particular brand of Christianity). I made a joke that for the most part only Christians would even get. It was just something to say with a wink and a nod. How is it offensive? Just because its about religion? That’s just silly.

It's bashing a human being based on his beliefs is what is the problem...
I think Tebow is a great athlete but a terrible, terrible, TERRIBLE QB. I can pick his game apart all day, but I would NEVER bash him or anyone for that matter, based on their beliefs…I’m just tired of hearing and reading all this hatred of someone based on their beliefs and being apart of a jadded society that thinks it’s fine to hate a man’s purpose in life to better humanity with giving and loving and encouraging others and hiding behind their hatred by saying it’s a “joke”. Does this mean I can bash someone for being a homosexual but feel justified by it because it’s a “joke”? Does that make it any more right than what is being said above. I have not tried to read much of anything that has to do with religion but this is front and center. I have always tried to ignore it but our society is not becoming a society and a nation of tolerance, but hiding their hatred behind the “joke” tag. It has been beaten to death, him being a Christian and if you feel like he’s forcing it down your throat then you can just change the channel, skip to the next story, or what have you…jokes are used to enlighten a situation and bring humor to a situation…but I don’t find anything humorous about making fun of a person’s belief. I don’t make fun of what makes up who they are as a human being. Religion, skin color, age, sexual preference….more and more jokes have been made on this stuff and those that make the jokes feel justified because it’s a “joke”. I’m not talking about on this site but in the world in general. Break apart his mechanics and how he plays the game of football…but leave his beliefs out of it.
There's no hope with dope...
But no one is making light of his religion or purpose in life
They make fun of how much press he gets for it but thats about it. I have never heard anyone say he’s a bad person because of his charity work or his beliefs. Most people I hear give him a lot of credit for it. The only real people I see talking about his religion, are Christians.
There is a love/hate thing with Tebow. He was nearly annointed as the second coming by many fans and some media. Heck, there were fans buying his jersey and putting “Jesus” on the back instead of Tebow. That should be more offensive to Christans than anything else. In addition to that he is in the media non-stop. It’s days after the loss ESPN was still running stories on him last night. Some people are just sick of hearing about him but I’ve never heard anyone bash him for his religion. Really, what sane journalist in this country would come out and bash a Christian athlete for his beliefs? They would get run off the air. As for general people, I haven’t heard that either. Jokes, yeah, heard a lot of those, but no one who has bashed him, his beliefs, his charitable works, or Christianity.

How bad is Brady Quinn?
That he couldn’t beat out this joke of a player, or even get put in the game when they were down by like 16 touchdowns to Patriots.
