Falcons hire Dirk Koetter as new OC
I guess that's another name to cross off of the Chiefs' list of potential OCs.

LOL
Thanks….someone had to do that.
Koetter’s name had been tossed around here and elsewhere as a potential candidate. Doesn’t seem like the Chiefs made any moves in his direction though. I’m quite interested to see who ends up in the OC spot for us.
We might as well cross many Dick Candidates off the list
Dick Vermeil
Dick Curl
Dick Seymour

I'm interested in these upcoming Chiefs hires
and I’m irritated by the timing of Kent Babb’s timing for what Joel calls:
We have an early candidate for story of the year on the Kansas City Chiefs.
Laughable.
It may have no effect on the future. However, why would he write a story that makes the Chiefs organization look like shenanigans before they make some of the most important coaching hires of the next few seasons.
I wish he would have thought about that for a moment before deciding to put out this fine piece of investigative reporting that successfully accomplishes nothing but negativity for this city or the team long term.
Meh, oh well.

This has been a problem with sports reporting in KC for a long time
the sports writers for the KC Star are rarely actually from Kansas City. They don’t have the same kind of vested interest in the success of the sports team that longtime fans do. Any chinks in the armor of the Chiefs team or organization is money in the bank for them, and they will keep hacking away at it as long as people still read what they have to say. Jason Whitlock built much of his career on it in these parts, being a nay-sayer and getting popularity by being provocative.
That’s not to say an outsider’s perspective can’t be informative and even necessary in sports journalism. I always thought that Joe Posnanski had great pieces on the chiefs. But, his were of a totally different kind compared to others. Also, fans growing up with the Chiefs are hardly objective when it comes to these things…and likely wouldn’t make the best “reporters.”
Elizabeth Montgomery anyone??

We should start hearing
Some rumblings about oc candidates here pretty quick with more teams being eliminated. I would think they would take a look at Houstons qb coach Greg Knapp. Dude has quite a bit of experience.
When will the Chiefs be a winning franchise again?

But as a playcaller?
He’s been a quarterback coach for many years, I know that much.
