PETE CARMICHAEL...NEW OC!!! Would love to make an all out push for him. Proven winner in New Orleans. The lure of becoming the HC when RAC is ready to hang em up MAY JUST seal the deal. Sean P ain't goin anywhere anytime soon...this would be my #1 choice. Please Lord...hear my prayer!!!

he doesnt even call plays

Does He? we need a playcaller

not since SP broke his leg.

They said that he gave up the play calling and has never taken them back because this guy has been doing such a good job with it. So he has been calling plays. He does however still have one of the greatest QB’s that he is coaching. Hard to expect that type of success here since we dont and have not had a good QB in a very long time.

Okay.

But it’s much easier taking the reigns of a well-oiled machine and not screwing it up, than it is to completely install a new system with new personnel and then make it work.

Yup, Todd Haley

Insert witty yet thought provoking phrase here.

I'd like it

I’m surprised Carmichael hasn’t been mentioned more in the OC talks here.

Here is his profile at the New Orleans Saints site discussing his experience and responsibilities.

Here is another link discussing his possible inclusion on the short list of HC candidates.

Carmichael Jr. was on the same coaching staff as Crennel in 2000 at the Cleveland Browns. Crennel was DC and Carmichael Jr. was the Tight Ends coach and Offensive Assistant.

I’ll be on board with whoever Crennel chooses to be the new OC, but IMO Carmichael Jr. should be a strong candidate.

The guy is already an OC

Why move? Maybe someone else from their staff…but hard to see this making any sense.

Having complete control

It is a lateral move; however, the credit for the offense goes to Sean Payton. The OC position under Payton is a no win situation – if successful it is because Payton is there, if it goes poorly he’d be the scapegoat. Not sure that he would leave NO for an OC position, but I hope the Chief’s brass would at least inquire.

The original poster of this topic also proposed maybe the possibility of OC now and HCOTF tag would be enough to lure him away from NO.
