The "80" or some number less
These players, the Chiefs have some control on whether we Re-sign them or not.
- LB Jovan Belcher (RFA)
- S Reshard Langford (ERFA)
- TE Jake O’Connell (RFA)
- QB Tyler Palko (ERFA)
Everybody else is free to seek employment elsewhere. I might want a Bright shiny new Guard or QB. The Roster says we need some help in other spots to date.

Not a roster yet to strike fear in the Elite QB's of the NFL. I have concerns at many Position groups. 2012 is a season to move Forward Big Time or we will Fail Big Time. We have Big Time opponents that have major Flaws themselves. Scott Pioli has to do a good job of managing the positions and elevating the Talent at the same time, only 45 guys are available on game day. This group of 46 is not going to win 10-12 games.

I think we need to add OG Grubbs, DT Calais Cambell to that chart via FA.

I thought Campbell was a 3-4 End?
agree we need to add some talent

If they moved Dorsey, Campbell would be a great pickup.
The views expressed by craig in calgary do not necessarily represent the views of all Canadians.
why can't we have both?
Why can’t we have starting caliber depth at a few positions anyway?
by Steve_Chiefs on Jan 15, 2012 10:41 PM CST up reply actions
Why would he sign here to be a back up?
Or are you referring to Dorsey as the back up

Might be surprised at the front 3's they put on the field, with this group of players.
Maybe even stick Jackson smack dab in the middle of it all.
would of ≠ would've
Great Post!
Big hole at QB, G, I think Hudson will play Center, OT, NT, and DE depth. Wow
Dexter McCluster
I would hope Pioli addresses the QB spot with a proven vet this year
Not Palko and not Stanzi
Free Agency might helpus get some O and D linemen.
We seem to be overstocked with Linebackers which is a good thing and understocked in the Secondary
by Steve_Chiefs on Jan 15, 2012 10:02 PM CST up reply actions
I don't think we're necessarily understocked in the Secondary
We definately have 4 solid to great starters. Great depth at corner. We just need an upgrade at backup safety
Dexter McCluster
That chart doesn't really show everything
Bailey/Bair double as DEs too.
Me and Matt Cassel just - you up, dog!

A thick, girth kid with a really wide trunk, broad set of shoulders and massive lower half. Looks full through both the upper and lower half and is a really wide-bodied kid. Can coil up well into his stance, stays low off the football and can generate a good initial snap off the ball into contact. Keeps his pad level down can gain leverage and there is some good initial get off burst into contact. Consistently is able to rock opposing lineman on contact at the point, works his hands inside and overpowers his way into the backfield. Looks a bit short armed and isn’t real fluid laterally. Not a guy who is going to stack and shed consistently. However, his low pad level, his strong lower half and ability to quickly get off the ball into contact makes him really difficult to move inside when defending the run.
Is limited off his frame, doesn’t run real well, looks a bit top heavy on the move and lacks the range to be effective in space. Isn’t a gifted pass rusher either. Has the power to develop as a bull rush guy and push the pocket some. However, his lacking length makes it tough for him to routinely keep himself clean. Nevertheless, the guy has a nose for the football. Showcases good snap awareness, gets off the ball on time and consistently locates the play quickly. Exhibits some coordination in the lower half and a little short area quickness when trying to avoid contact, and with his combination of power and leverage can simply man handle opponents through contact once he gains a step and close on the football. Was extremely productive as a senior leading the team in tackles and tackles for loss.
Impression: The kind of physically put together kid who can develop as a nose in either a 34 o4 43 front. In a weaker senior class at DT I would rather roll the dice on this higher upside kid than most of the average senior later guys at bigger schools.

Don't really like where that puts us secondary-wise
Particularly at corner, but I could dig it. I think Kendall wright goes in the first personally otherwise id have picked him instead of Washington.

Kendall Wright? I like him but isn't he a bit undersized?............
…………………..seems to be another Dex in a way. I know he has been compared to Steve Smith in Carolina, which talent wise is a great thing but attitude wise, I’ll pass! Seems like a good kid so I don’t think the attitude issues are there. I also am afraid he was made to look good by a pretty accurate passer, what do you guys think?
"Well, I'm near the end and I... just ain't got the time........"
A mixture of both
But take Wrights stats away from RG3 and he is just another average QB.
Kendall Wright was HUGE for Baylors offense…I would love to have him.
How long should you try? Until.

He is going to go very high, I just don't think a 1st or 2nd would be worth it, you?
"Well, I'm near the end and I... just ain't got the time........"
Definitely worth it
He’s the next Steve smith only team-oriented
Not like Dex at all, just because he’s smallish doesn’t mean he’s the next dexter McCluster

hi, Mo! 5 minutes!!!
We know Sabby Piscatelli now :)
I hope we put some talent between Charles and Draugn
some after Moeaki
some before or after Jalil Brown
and someone to compete with Hudson at Center

I'd take him
as the “extra lineman” in big sets. I like the guy but I’m not sold yet on him starting…but I definitely want to get him on the field more in 2012. I think he makes Richardson expendable if we pick up an OT in the off-season.
Your eyes tell you more than any statistics can.
Possibly
In my mind, a/any NFL team needs 7 quality, ready-to-play-at-any-minute linemen even though they’ll likely have 8 on the active roster and likely dress all 8 for a game. You gotta have the obvious starting 5, a swing tackle who is the usual 6th lineman who reports eligible in big formations, a backup interior lineman with snapping capabilities and, if an 8th is carried, generally a project-type guy.
With that said, we currently have the following under contract entering 2012:
1. LT (Albert)
2. LG (Lilja)
3. C (Hudson)
4. RG (Asamoah)
5. RT __________
6. swing (Maneri)
7. interior __________
8. project (Mims)
Now maybe Darryl Harris is the 7th but I don’t know. While I have no doubts that DeCastro is a beast, it still leaves me uncomfortable with the depth at center if anything ever happens to Hudson. That is why I’d much rather draft a true center (like Wisconsin’s Konz) and slide Hudson to LG and Lilja to the bench. Then, worst case scenario, if anything happens to Hudson, Lilja slides in. If anything happens to Asamoah, Lilja slides in. And if anything happens to Konz, Hudson moves over and Lilja slides in. Just my opinion…
Your eyes tell you more than any statistics can.
I was reading a DeCastro Scouting report that says he can play Center
http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Pair-of-Stanford-linemen-set-to-succeed-at-the-next-level.html
As a pass blocker, he is very steady, again getting his hands on his opponent quickly, playing with bend and has good mirror skills. He slides his feet well, can recover versus moves and anchors. He consistently looks to finish both run and pass blocks. Like with his run blocking, his hand use is very good. Overall, DeCastro is a solid guard prospect who should also be able to play center at the next level but I doubt he could play outside. He has the talent and tenacity to start early in his career. While I don’t like to draft a guard in the first round unless they have some special traits, it wouldn’t surprise me if DeCastro went in the first. I don’t see a special player but I see a damn good one.

Ehhhh
I’m not a big fan of assuming guys can play in spots they’ve never played before. For all I know, some team will draft him, move him to center and he’ll go on to an entire decade of pro bowls, but I just don’t like assuming that guys can do something they’ve never done. Sure, he can probably handle nose tackles with ease, but I hate to assume he can be comfortable snapping the ball and then doing that based on his size and other things. Just look at Phil Costa or whoever he is from the Cowboys and all of the snap problems they had this year. Seems much simpler than it really is.
Your eyes tell you more than any statistics can.
All his bios claim he has played center in college.
If it wasn’t for the accursed paycheck, would I really imprison myself in this dungeon of the human soul?
