NFL Playoffs: Which Matchup Do You Want To See The Most?
The 2012 NFL playoffs schedule is moving onto the divisional round this weekend with four games -- Giants vs. Packers and Saints vs. 49ers in the NFC and Broncos vs. Patriots and Texans vs. Ravens in the NFC.
After this weekend, we'll be down to just two games the following weekend.
My question to you is: Which potential matchup are you most looking forward to for the AFC or NFC Championship?
Ravens vs. Patriots and 49ers vs. Packers would both be intriguing as the top two seeds in each conference would be playing. The Broncos in the AFC championship would be something a couple of people might talk about (what's that quarterback's name again?).
But there's one matchup that, to me, stands out -- Saints vs. Packers. We saw it on opening weekend as the Saints were one of the few teams to actually challenge the Packers this season (the Giants and Chiefs being a couple of others). It's the No. 1 offense (Packers) and No. 2 offense (Saints) with arguably the two best quarterbacks in the game. That's the matchup I'm most looking forward to.
So out of all the potential playoff matchups, which one do you want to see the most?

Schadenfreude has me wanting to see the Broncos / Patriots for the inevitable outcome

Good news! You'll get to see them this weekend!
2012 Chiefs Draft Picks by Falcon58: G DeCastro 1st round, NT Ta'amu 2nd round or OT Adcock 2nd/3rd round, TE Egnew 3rd round, RB Ganaway 5th/6th, QB Case Keenum 5th/6th. Resign: Carr, Bowe, Orton, McClain, Gordon(in that order). Trade Dorsey for picks, promote Gordon to DT/DE.
Yeah, the conference championships don't even matter as much to me as this weekend does.
If Denver wins somehow, then my hope for serenity during the AFCCG will be right out the door.

Though I probably should have worded my initial comment a little better given the context of Joel's question in the OP.

Man if the AFCCG is a backup backup QB vs a FB in QB's clothing, I'll have to laugh at the irony of it all.

I think you left out a "backup" in that.
backup backup QB
Pretty sure I heard that Yates was the 4th string QB
You're probably right. I'm slow on the draw today.
Short on sleep, no coffee and in the middle of a 15 day work stretch with no days off.
Changing screen name of TRSZombie if this keeps up. o.O

I cut caffiene from my diet on Monday...
This has been a difficult week!!! Many headaches
Go Chiefs!!!!
Been almost a month
Headaches went away after about a week and a half.
Makes the days when I don’t get much sleep pretty groggy though without the caffeine jolt.
Not used to that at all.

Ravens vs Pats and Saints vs Packers

That is who I expect to see...
Who I want to see is…
Texans vs Patriots and Saints vs Giants
I can see the Texans’ D making Flacco look bad and TJ Yates pulling off a bigger upset than Tebow did.
And I think the Giants are surging right now and the Packers will be the victims of that.
The better question is: Which game will the upset occur in this week? My pick would have to be Giants vs Packers.

I'd pick Texans over Ravens.
Although my 6-year-old son went 0-6 this weekend picking football games (all 4 NFL games, the KSU-Arkansas game, and LSU-Alabama) so the Packers, Patriots, and 49ers could all be in real trouble this week.
I have a feeling...
Houston Vs Pats
Saints vs Giants
I think the Packers Oline is too banged up.
I think Wade Phillips makes Flacco look worse then Cassel
Arrowhead pride addict
hmm..
I would like to see SF take out the Saints and Packers, for the sole reason to show that defense is not dead, and actually alive and kicking.
I prefer the Tebows to beat the Patriots, I think Tebow is the lesser of two evils here. I think it is actually doable IF Denver doesn’t turn the ball over.
Houston over Ravens.
Houston over Denver.
SanFran and Houston.
I’d be happy with that SB.
I highly approve of the Kiowas in your profile pic.

Back when I was an Apache guy, my buddies and I would stand on the flightline and fake-play with remote controllers when the Kiowas came in for a landing.
Their pilots didn’t seem to mind much. But their crew chiefs hated it.

heh, that's pretty funny
We’ve got several Blackhawks. Mostly for the Medevac unit that’s here.
Don’t get many Kiowas or Apaches.
Love all the birds, though. Grew up around it, with my dad having worked on Hueys in Viet Nam, and then in the private sector working for Bell after he got out of the military.

After giving it some more thought...
I’m actually wondering if these playoffs will give us a glimpse into the following questions:
Are the top 1-5 offenses better than the top defenses? With all the rules changes, is defense that important anymore? Do the statistical rankings really make that much of a difference?
Even if you had the #1 defense… would a top 5 offense still light you up?
2012 Chiefs Draft Picks by Falcon58: G DeCastro 1st round, NT Ta'amu 2nd round or OT Adcock 2nd/3rd round, TE Egnew 3rd round, RB Ganaway 5th/6th, QB Case Keenum 5th/6th. Resign: Carr, Bowe, Orton, McClain, Gordon(in that order). Trade Dorsey for picks, promote Gordon to DT/DE.
It may be evolving to where it's less of a question about being the top overall defense
But rather the top pass coverage / pass rush defense.
A team with a potent offense who can disrupt the opponent’s passing offense may be the new standard.

So I guess I'm saying not necessarily #1 overall defense, but a tailored defense to stop the top QB's

I will be happy with just about any matchup
other than a Giants/Denver super bowl. Though I’m sure the NFL office, the networks and advertisers will achieve sexual bliss over that matchup
The only measure of true success in the NFL is the Vince Lombardi trophy. Anything less is a rationalization.
Best game of the weekend is Giants vs Packers
Easily the best match up. Two recent Superbowl winners going at it.
Tebow vs Patriots – Blowout
TJ Yates vs Joe Flacco – Snore
Saints vs 49ers is interesting at least. A rematch from the opening game of the season (Packers vs Saints) is what I’m looking most forward to. That game will end up being better than the Superbowl. AFC sucks this year.
I'm Tarkus, and I approve of this message.
Chiefs D held Raiders, Bears, Packers and Broncos to their lowest point outputs of the season. #RAC
The best games, by far, are on the NFC side.
On the AFC side:
As much as I hate the Pats, I’m so tired of Tebowmania.
ANd I’d love to see the Texans with 4th string Yates make it to the AFC championship. Although I don’t see them going farther. Unless there’s an upset it seems like another Pats-in-the-SB year (which is crazy considering their D).
But on the NFC side:
Giants vs Packers and Saints vs 49’ers are all strong games. A Pack vs Saints NFC championship game would be more exciting than the SB afterwards.

here's mine
i’d like to see:
AFC
Houston beat Baltimore
Denver beat New England
And then i’d like to see some Texan on Tebow violence
NFC
San Francisco beat New Orleans
Green Bay beat New York
and i think it’d be awesome to see the Pack return to the superbowl. Also, Packers v. Texans would probably be a better game than Texans v. Niners
Tony Richardson, we hardly knew ye...
Overwhelming offense numbs me every bit as much as overwhelming defense.
I don’t get the fascination with games where the teams just trade touchdowns.
NFC games this weekend are very interesting. Get to see if SF’s defense is for real, and whether the Giants’ D line actually gets arrested after they murder Rodgers.
