We Have Our First Member Of The Chiefs Practice Squad

Stay connected for news and updates

The Kansas City Chiefs will start filling out their practice squad today and we know of one name that will be on it -- OT David Mims. The Virginia Union offensive tackle will become the first known member of the Chiefs 2011 practice squad.

He signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent and went through training camp with the team over the last month. The first thing that jumps out at you is his size -- 6'8" and 330 pounds -- and he looks every bit of it.

He and OT Butch Lewis were two undrafted free agent offensive tackles that were competing for a spot. I figured one of those two guys would make the 53-man roster but neither did. It's possible Lewis joins the practice squad, too.

The waiver wire was over at 11:00 a.m. (Arrowhead Time) today so we should start hearing a little more about the Chiefs practice squad. They can put eight players on there, which will be compromised of young guys that went through camp with the team or other players around the league that were waived this week.

Here's some more info on the practice squad rules
