Chiefs Reportedly Work Out Former Patriots RB Sammy Morris
Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles was lost for the year last week thanks to an ACL tear and the Chiefs haven't added a running back in his place.
They reportedly worked out former Chiefs FB Mike Cox and, according to Adam Caplan, they also worked out RB Sammy Morris this week.
Morris is best known as the former New England Patriots running back, joining them in 2007. He was drafted by the BuffaloBills in 2000 and also spent some time with the Miami Dolphins.
He's seen limited time in his decade-plus career running the ball over 100 times in a season just twice.
With Charles' open roster spot this week, the Chiefs brought back WR Jeremy Horne, so they're at 53 players right now.

I’d like to have the other guy in the picture, behind the Chiefs line.
I don't have a catchy, catch phrase.
I know it's Mallet
I’ll take him any day of the week
I don't have a catchy, catch phrase.
Mallett, may have made some costly int's at Ark.
But he’s got a big arm. I think he’s going to be really good. He just needs to mature a little. But I would take him over Cassel any day. Pats got a steal with him
I don't have a catchy, catch phrase.
A good arm?
Wouldn’t fit in Muir’s scheme.

I was thinking the EXACT same thing earlier today

Mallett would be a good addition.
Everyone would then see just how bad Cassel is. Put a qb with a little experience beside him and let them go head to head in practice for a week. Play the one on top in Sunday’s game. I don’t know what these guys are thinking bringing in players that they already cut. THEY WERE CUT FOR A REASON!!!! They weren’t good enought to make it on the team. What changed??? Seems like we are just settling for what ever we can.

Work out a 34yr old dude out of football and a not that good FB
To replace Jamaal Charles…..but we settled with Horne. Hmmmm….
This is just for you Pioli!!
McCluster: My heart is so big, man. A lot of people come to me all the time and say ‘You’re 165 pounds, how do you do it?’ And I look at them and tell them, you know what? I’ve got the heart of a lion. I’m not scared of nobody.
I know, I'm at a total loss of what's going on.
I know their isn’t the greatest of FA’s out there, but these moves have got me lost
I don't have a catchy, catch phrase.
Are they only allowed to work out
former Chiefs, Cardinals, and Patriots?
Men succeed when they realize that their failures are the preparation for their victories.
No.
They’re also allowed to work out former Ravens.

I say we trade for Pollard ...
He is a better “in-the-box” SS than Sloppy Seconds Sabby and Crime Dog McGraw. Probably even a tad better in coverage, too.

Sammy started out as a good FB
Maybe the McClain getting a bigger workload has legs if they are bringing in Sammy and working out some Cox

Final piece of the puzzle...
Why not try to catch lightning in a bottle and sign a RB off someone’s else’s PS? There’s a reason why Sammy Morris, Thomas Jones aren’t the #1 guy for any team, it’s 2011, not 2007. This team isn’t one veteran player away from winning the Super Bowl, they need to find some key pieces that are ascending in their careers not already buried in the ground.

totally agree!
Why always washed up has beens?
Are there truly NO better options out there?
Sammy is ancient and Horne is a “never-will-be”.
Sweet moves, Scott. That’ll really give the team the shot of talent that they need!
Speaking of talent, has anyone seen the TE from Clemson play? Wow. Kid is legit.
How long before that TE is terrorizing the Chiefs defense?
My middle name is Luck, so suck on this, Luck suckers.
Next season
I think he’s a junior. Not a big ACC guy, so I’m not sure. Too lazy to look it up at the moment!
He won't be terrorizing our defense ...
Cause he’s our 1st rd. draft pick next year. Have a nice day! :+)

Can this guy evaluate talent or what?
Who needs Page, Pollard, Waters, Babin, Turk McBride or Wade Smith (all starters by the way)?
Standing on the corner in a white Godfather hat. He drives a long black gangster Cadillac. He can steal a broads mind, man, in three or four minutes. It’s not how long you talk, brother, it’s what you put in it.
Add Tim Crabtree to the list... He can make the 53 man roster for the Super Bowl Champs but has to sign a TE that was out all of 2010 and planning on being a color commetator this year
I wonder if there are any more Grad Assistants we can start at wide out this week? Pioli is the master of finding veteran players that no one else wants
Some potentially good news.
JoshLooney
#Chiefs WR Jonathan Baldwin limited in today’s practice. It’s an upgrade, if anything, since he had yet to practice at all in the reg season
My middle name is Luck, so suck on this, Luck suckers.
Current FAs
Here’s the list. On the link, you’ll need to “Sort By” and then click on “Signed by Team”. This will show you all the Free Agents as one block. Still some decent names out there…especially young QBs. Dan LeFevour anyone?

Can we trade for Bruce Gradkokski?
Matt Moore? Seneca Wallace? Jimmy Clausen? Mark Brunell? Brady Quinn? And many others to replace Matty-C(or at least make legitimate competition.) Although, working a GOOD trade for Ryan Mallet does seriously intrigue me. I was hoping we’d draft him last year when I saw him slipping down the board on draft day.

Hey buddy!
Good to see you again!!
How’s life? Well, other than the obvious atrocities we witness every Sunday?
LOL! What little hay there is left for the last cutting ...
is getting showered on here. So put her up tomorrow I guess. I was hoping the showers would miss today. Just another little typical life atrocity for me. So how you been doin in South Central KS? Should we draft Landry? Or is that a loaded question for an OU homie? lol. ;+)

Life here is fine.
We had this weird, wet stuff come out of the sky. Old-timers said it was called “rain.”
Not on the Landry wagon. Seems to easily flustered.
Do you live west of Wichita?
I kinda presume you do? You sound like you’ve been part of the really bad drought this summer? Yeah, not too sold on Landry myself. Being an USC homie, of course I like Barkley. But I’m far from being sold on him being an “elite” QB prosepct. A good, solid franchise one(what I call franchise anyway)for the right system. Kinda like Sanchez, imo. However, most of these QB’s would be more “NFL ready” if they stayed all 4 seasons – like Luck and Locker. In my no-nothing opinion. (shrugs)

Yeah, let's trade for Brady Quinn so we can win 7 games this year.
No. It’s Cassel or bust. I don’t want a mediocre QB that can’t start for another team. Either Cassel is going to carry this team to victories or we’re going to fall into a top 5 pick, and draft his replacement. Time to put up or shut up. No more retreads from other teams.
Darren Sharper
is the only name i am interested in and maybe Gerrard Warren. Jackie Battle is better than Sammy Morris
Since McCluster is our only 'speed' back left
Why not bring in Lousaka Polite to block for TJ and Le’Ron?.. Hell even Jackie Battle would benefit having Lousaka in front of him.
And if we want a receiving fullback like Morris, why not Leonard Weaver? That could definitely be an upgrade over working out and bringing in Patriot outcast Sammie..
They are both FA’s..

For the love of Chiefus,
Can we please consider players who were not Arizona Cardinals or New England Patriots?
Seriously. After 3 years of this, it is getting a little ridiculous.
Just…..Seriously??!! Sammy Morris?
Arrggggghhhhh!!!
-Erykah Badu, I have accepted your proposal. So, Mrs. DTR, let's get to consummating...you are on notice.
-"All praise Chiefus."
Sammy Morris?
That’s the pussy that tried to cut block Pollard instead of taking him head on- that lead to this whole Cassletravisty in the first place… meh
we sign him- means the front office is tanking.
Holy crap! Man, you've got the start of a GREAT conspiracy theory right there.
Not the tanking part. The finally-paying-back-Sammy-Morris-for-getting-Cassel-out-of-NE-and-giving-Pollard-his-own-personal-NFL-rule-named-after-him part.
When you gotta go in the lion's den, you don't go quiet. You go in loud, kick the door down and say WHERE IS THE SONUVABITCH. -B. Billick
Start Stanzi...
And move Horne to a pass catching TE…May not have the blocking skills but can catch a 5 yard pass from QB who only throws it 6 yards…And MC is scheduled to make how much this year?

Seriously?
I’m damn tired of Pioli only working out ex-Patriots over and over. I fully believe that Billichick was the mastermind there and Pioli is just his lap dog.
I'm drawing the line in the sand right here......
If this organization becomes so desperate they look at bringing LJ back I will first vomit and then become a hermit and never watch football again!

Would rather have DL/Gerard Warren or RB/Clinton Portis...both of which were in town in the last week.
We really need DL help bad. We can get by with McCluster,McClain and Jones for now.
Pioli sign Warren please!
2012 Chiefs draft should be interesting.
