As we're all too painfully aware, the Chiefs were handed a brutal loss over the weekend by an up and coming Detroit Lions team. It wasn't pretty. In fact, it was downright ugly, and the final score or 48-3 was perhaps the least of it all when you consider that the Chiefs also lost Jamaal Charles for the season with an ACL tear.
So what can one do? What can one say? Not much, as no amount of hand-wringing or finger-pointing will ever change the outcome. What one CAN do, however, is admit that our Cheifs aren't as good as we'd like them to be and move on with our heads held high, knowing that it can only get better. I mean, it has to, right?
And with that duly acknowledged, we say "Congratulations, Lions" and move on with humility and grace and class. And that leads to this ... some thoughts and words of wisdom from Lions fans themselves. Fans of a team that not too long ago suffered through an agonizing 0-16 season. Fans who've held their heads high and supported their team through some bad time, indeed, through the worst season any fan could imagine. If they can do it, we can do it ... however bad it gets, however dark at the end of the tunnel, a few words of wisdom to remember from some very classy people ...
Great guys - Thank you Chiefs fans We appreciate talking football, without all the smack talking and anger. At least you know that with our past, we know how you are feeling (both about losing and about losing players to injury). Realize that our happiness is not at your expense, but at finally having a good team after many years of pain. You guys have been great this week. Lions-fan-SLC
Everyone at Arrowhead Pride Are classy guys who know their football. There was no bashing, no bias. All in all one of the better communities at SBNation. Thanks for the great insight guys, good luck with the rest of the season detpistons3
Most definitely the classiest, knowledgable fans I've had the pleasure of talking with. Good luck with your season, I hope it turns around somehow. Bighaircut
oh upamtn, I forgot to mention Despite how elated I am over this victory, and I am elated. If I could have a wish to make Charles not have been injured but the cost was the game result was reversed in the score? I’d make that trade off without a thought. I’m devistated for Jamaal. Of course my sorrow is with the team and the fans :( Ee Oulo
First class man What can I say I’m happy for my team but I never like to see players get hurt. On my fantasy team or not Jammal is an elite player. Fingers are crossed for him. I already heard the dreaded ACL today. Good luck gong forward guys I hate the injurys its part of the game and as Lions fans well all know about those dreaded things. Hope you guys can get something going this year. Thanks for being a class act and respectful the entire week. Till we meet again KC….till we meet again. The Profiler
Classy By far you and the rest of AP have been classy to the core. Speaking of class, this is when your chiefs will really show it. Charles, Berry and Moekaki all out with injuries is devastating and I feel for you. However, without adversity we can never fully appreciate victory. Its right now when you find what your team and your fans are made of. If the chiefs are half as classy as the people I enjoyed chatting with at AP this week, they will find a way to overcome and the victories will be even sweeter. I dont often root for non-Lions teams, but Ill be watching the Chiefs this season and Cheering my ass off. Good luck Chiefs. Leonuro
Class. Grace. Humility. Pride. Respect.
Stay Classy, Kansas City!
Geaux Chiefs!
