I have followed Arrowheadpride for about 3 years now and never made a post, but here it goes. After the first touchdown, the defense settled in and looked pretty good in the first half. If not mistaken, we came out running the ball almost at will. Pass blocking started out real well and kept Cassel upright. The only thing I see missing in reviewing the game is that we can't pass the ball unless the designated play for the primary receiver is not there. Play-action passes to tightends, quick slants and throws to running backs are plays that ANY NFL quarterback can make. Every time we HAD to pass the ball on 3rd down and 7 or more we fell apart.
I am not a Matt Cassel hater. He has all the intangebles, says the right things, works as hard as anyone. BUT, I see him look at the primary receiver way too long and the result is normally a forced ball in to tight coverage. I really don't see how Breaston can have a total of 4 catches in 2 games especially in two games that are complete blowouts. I believe our defense stays on the field too long and has been put in too many bad situations. How can we average around 4 yards per pass attempt? How can you underthrow a bomb 20 yards when you've rolled out and not under any pressure? We may not lose solely because of the quarterback but we wouldn't be blown out each week if he was even average. Cassel is a system guy that had success due to Weiss dialing up the right plays but when the primary receiver or timing route is not there, we fail.
