As naive as I may be at age 50, I cannot for the life of me figure out what changed from last season until now. I am not going to believe Charlie Weiss had that much of an effect on this team as a whole. I also do not believe Brian Waters departure has created that big of a hole in the locker room and moral department.
I just cannot come to grips with this situation. Was last year really a fluke? Were we just not that good and everyone we beat was just horrible? I'm not ready to get on any bandwagon to fire Haley or any other coaches, but holy cow, what gives?
I'd just like to be competitive at this point!

I won't say last year was a fluke
But you did have a lot of guys in contracts years, an easier schedule (although they’ve only played the Bills and Lions so far), clear cut veteran leadership in Waters and Vrabel, and were flying under the radar after the 2009 season.
Maybe last year could be called an “overachieving” year, I could roll with that term.
Golden Tate is to route running, what Taco Bell is to Mexican food.
This my friend has a lot of factors involved
Charlie did have a big effect last year. The pre-season “conditioning” by way of Haley was a complete waste this year. This team has not been prepared for any of the games.
The coach prepares his team, chooses his starters and puts together the game plan during the week. All 3 facets have been poorly done beginning with the end of the lockout. Just watch the confusion before each play by both the offense and the defense….there isn’t that feeling of confidence in what they are doing.
And this isn’t just because of Weis….Gailey was also let go with the same egotistical approach. Weis did a heckuva job, but he’s gone and it’s on Haley to game-plan the offense. This now has been compounded with the knowledge that Pioli and Haley are not getting along.
40+ years since the SB.
17 years since a playoff win
3 years since the King was dethroned
The drama continues.
Its just becomming more of a head scratcher now and I dont have much hair left to scratch.
Winning begins with Attitude - Haley and Pioli will be winners in KC!
I'll forever be a Chiefs fan! Only God himself could take that away from me, but when I get to my great reward, I'll rejoin two bigger fans, my Mom and Dad.
The swagger is gone.
This years team doesnt play with half the intensity or toughness that we saw last year. Thats why its such a head scratcher, after ass-kickings like we’ve endured, that should light a fire under someones ass to get things going, but the pilot light is out and Haleys matches are all wet.
I think its a few factors
1. Weiss >>>>> Muir
2. Injuries, which exposed our lack of depth, something we didn’t have to worry about last yr
3. The line play has regressed the most on both sides of the ball.
4. Matt Cassel can not put a team on his back, he has to surrounded by optimal talent and situation to succeed.
5. A little bad luck here and there, but that is obviously minimal to what I listed above.
The thing is the Chiefs will never be good or consistent until we have a franchise QB. Without one of those you are shit out of luck, no pun intended, well maybe a little bit.
